Armor is the difference. If the X5 has both missile hardpoints ( at least 2 ) and has ECM, then it means the death of any light mech that fights it. Its much the same way if two fresh streakmando and a 3L fight each other. even though the 3L has less streaks it will win the fight due to armor. So, if the X5 can carry the same or more then the 3L in weapons, with ECM, then the 3L loses by default when ever they fight. Which is sad, cause light mech fights have degraded in to who has more ECM/Streaks.

Now if the 5X does come with 2 missile points, 3-4 lasers and ECM, it will be a pay to win mech. If No ECM then it will be fine, since ECM will just jam the streaks... though they really do need to nerf streaks already.

Glad someone else also noticed the tiny energy lens on the center torso. Possible they are left and right, but they look like small laser lens like on some other mechs. Extremely small points for energy weapons, and I must agree, something seems off with the look of those 'missile' tubes.

Turns out in battle tech lore X-5 is a popular beer brand.


I prefer the trailer park champ. Instead of secret mech testing out X-pulse lasers.

If those are headlights and they come on......complete win of a mech. Look at the legs, differ colors prob ripped off another cicada.


It should have X-5 beer cans all over the dashboard.

If this mounts missile hardpoints and contains ECM (no hero 'mech should EVER be able to mount ECM, but let's go with it for right now,) then this is so P2W it's not funny and the Raven 3L is going to get pushed over.

Here's the thing, a Cicada is so much easier to kill than any other "light" mech. The Raven's hardpoints or borked, whereas the Cicada poses a nice big target.

I'm guessing 3-4 energy, 2 missile and no ecm.
No other hero mech or founders has ecm.
If it has ecm I'm buying it, no ecm no buy.
I've already got a Jenner-D, don't need another.
The Raven-3L will still be the best mech in the game.

No one gets it "X-5". It is designed by BMW. Leather seats, touch screen infotainment and teutonic engineering. Those are KC lights on the front for offroading in the Bavarian Alpine Region. Vundabar!!!!!!!

That's not a nice colour scheme. Although, if people are right, and the X is for 'experiment', then I suppose it looks like the mech was cobbled together out of spare panels.

The more I look at it the more I think it has 4 energy hardpoints, you can clearly see the housing is there on the other arm, those are almost certainly missile tubes, they have a seem in the middle that will allow the halfs to open.

I bet they release the specs on April 1 and it comes stock with ECM.

What if the Experimental part of it was a tonnage jump to 45 tons, and an armor downgrade to allow it to equip two UAC5s and JJs? .....I think that tube looking thing between the shield/arm and torso could be a ballistic hardpoint.... DAKKA PEW DAKKA PEW..... I CAN FLY.....

Tube looking thing is the arm actuator, present on all cicadas. If it had double AC's it would probably just borrow the barrels from the 3m (that would be a interesting mech)

OR.... machine gun arrays and ER Flamers.... Ability to stack ten tons worth of machine guns into one hardpoint, and a module that extends the range of the flamer to 500 meters....

Fundamentally a Cicada with Missiles is interesting though SSRM Lights will eat it all the day with no effort.

If TAG would work inside the ECM Bubble it could be a good Raven Killer with TAG + 2 SSRM2 + 2 or 3 MPL.

I would love to pilot a fast 'mech with JJs, ECM and 4E/2M. That would, in fact, be the perfect 'mech IMO. I love the Jenner D, and I love the Spider 5D, a 'mech that brings them together into a perfect union of pure ***-kickery would be a sweet sweet dream from which I would hope never to awaken.
