I have played ALL the stand alones and am newbie to the online version. Why is it the only Mech that matters in the mechwarrior world is not in the game? this has ruined my desire to progress or even play! MADCAT where are you?

They are adding more mechs as time goes on. You can only do so much at one time, ya know? .. and, they say this is "beta" and isn't really finished yet (even when it is 'finished', it will never be 'finished' as new mechs and maps will always trickle in).

Though, I don't know if the MADCAT will be on the planning board. I don't know anything about the Battletech universe or timelines and what have you, so I don't know if that particular mech fits in their plans.

And if 1 mech type is enough to keep you from playing at all, one has to question your attachment to battletech at all. I never got to play as a kid, never bothered playing any of the other versions out there, but this is some good fun (mostly). And it's FREE, which is one of the deciding factors for me at present.

Come on! Download it! Run some matches and have fun!

Dont get me wrong i love the genre but its like selling No Doubt without Gwen Stefani. MadCat is the Franchise seller. like you said though maybe i will see it down the road.

Yes, many ask why they can't pilot a Timberwolf (a.k.a. Madcat). Feel free to search the forums to get the long answer to your question.

The short answer to your question is the Timberwolf is a clan mech, and we won't see it until the Clans invade (which should be soon).

Ah, well this is because of a time line issue. Madcats (Timberwolves) are from the Clan invasion era. The current game is based a year or so away from then.

If you actually played all of the original games, then Cresenk Hawks and MW 1 would be familair to you and there were no Clan 'Mechs. MechWarrior 2 introduced the Clans and thus their equipment.

Oh I'm sure we'll get Timberwolves eventually. This game is technically still in beta so we're only seeing a tip of the iceberg. I get excited just thinking about how many mechs and variants we'll have a year from now. Aside from all the other things. (clans, social functions, maps and game modes, etc.) I doubt they'll ever stop bringing out new mechs and variants. God knows there are plenty in the universe for them to bring in. Not to mention they've said they don't care to make 'piranha' mechs either. Should be plenty of options.

According to sarna.net the clan invasion begins in March of this year (3050) and will continue until January 3052. I expect to see clan mech concept art this year with the first models entering the game some time near the end of this year. It takes about a month for the devs to make a new mech and we have 5 pieces of mech art that have yet to make it into the game.

The Timberwolf (IS Slang: Madcat) is a Clan Mech. Clan Mechs won't be announced or detailed until April/May.

The good news is that you have a few months to catch up on Battletech Lore.

With very high probability, the Mad Cat/Timberwolf will be the first Clan Mech introduced anyway. That of course only if they don't decide to start with several Omnis at once, which would make more sense (because of being otherwise boring to Clan players for the first month.)
If they start with 1 light/1 medium/1 heavy/1 assault, I would place my bets on Kit Fox, Nova, Mad Cat, respectively, but I have no Idea with which Assault they will come up first. (I would have said Warhawk, but since they did not introduce Targeting Computers yet...)

My money is on seeing Clan tech in summer.

I'm being optimistic.

this is at least the second thread I've seen in a week from a new user account decrying (in nearly identical tone) the lack of the Timberwolf/Madcat in MWO. Probably more I have not seen (so many threads, so little unsupervised time at work...)

This guy is creating new disposable accounts just to troll the issue.

The Catapult K2 can suffice for now.
