Can't base anything on tonnage. I would rather have a 35 ton raven on my team than an 85 ton stalker most of the time.

The point is that it has to be EVEN. If they have three ravens, and you only have one, that's not fair. It doesn't matter if a team has 5 raven, 5 atlas, 8 hunchbacks, it doesn't matter as long as the OTHER team has the same composition so it's a level playing field.

The only reason it's not fair is because light mechs are ******** to kill at the moment.

Damage on light mechs gets spread all around. While damage on assault mechs almost always goes into the torso. So light mechs live a heck of a lot longer.

Once they readd collisions I expect it will help with the light mech situation a great deal.

I wouldn't mind if ELO put more emphasis on weight distribution and ECM among both teams. Other than that, it seems to be working fine, though it takes a large number of matches to get you dialed in.

I think you are confusing ELO and Matchmaker.
That is an easy mistake to make right now because it seems ELO is the ONLY determining factor being used right now.
ELO, Class, tonnage, and ECM should ALL be figured into Matchmaker.

I miss the days when I could look at my drop's makeup and have any clue what my opponents were packing.

Nowadays it's just wander out ahead, stick my neck out and get obliterated by 5 AS7-D-DCs with 2 LRM20s each before I even know what's what.

I'd rather have a massive Elo disparity between teams than a massive weight disparity, who is with me?

Neither option seems good for balance but it seems like most mismatched weight class games end in a faster win or loss than games did before Elo. With the weight mismatches I have noticed many pre-made groups running far more serious setups to deal with the weight mismatches. This seems to make the 8-0 stomps very common in games where 1 team has a significant weight and firepower advantage.

Small groups can at least make up some of this difference but the teams with a weight disadvantage are often forced to accept lower rewards by capping.

Either the weight matching needs a higher priority or cap rewards need to be returned to the higher rewards so a team that ends up at a severe weight disadvantage by chance isn't cheated on rewards when they are way down on firepower and forced to use their lighter team to win by cap.

Did it in closed beta.
We all died, but because we killed 6 of them it credited us as the winners. 5kills vs 6.

I didn't even know this was possible. That's awesome! How long has this been in the game?

Since closed beta. It's been in the game awhile. It can be destroyed 2 ways. First you overheat your ammo by running about 95-100% heat for too long. Or you run with ammo in your torso without CASE and an enemy hits it.

Yeah, heaven forbid you have to have scouts tell you the make up of the other team. I personally like it better this way, gives me something to do with my scout, go find the enemy and report their make-up. Plus I like that I don't have any idea how the match will progress, which you sometimes do when you know the make up of both teams. You have to devise a plan and change it on the fly, although that part will work much better when integrated voice chat is added.

It seems like the higher tonnage team is at a disadvantage, at least in my experience. A decent team with a bunch of friggin Ravens, Jenners, and Commandos usually can wreck a team loaded with Assaults and Heavies. And ELO pretty much ensures your opponents are decent.

Although I just had a great game on River City Night. Near the end of the game, it was my PB versus a Jenner and a Raven at theta. My team was down on resource points and I killed both of those a-holes for the win. Usually I don't survive those kind of 1v2 situations, especially when I'm already shot to hell from earlier brawling.

Well "skill" plays it's part, but what if they have 5 lights on Alpine Valley conquest and you have 3 atlases, 2 slow heavies, and some slow mediums?

Don't queue for conquest in assaults and realize that by doing so and ending up on alpine you'll be at a disadvantage and need to rely on hunting and killing rather than capping?

Its been in for a long time (I've only see it happen three times, the earliest I want to say is somewhere around September/October). It just requires you to be smearing your face against the exploding mech, and have already taken considerable damage.
