I am against this, the last thing MechWarrior fans want is for this game to turn into a CoD, all stealth based back shooting lame-fest.

You know, I used to use thermal all the time. Well, not on every map. Anyways, I find myself using normal vision more frequently than anything nowadays just 'cause it looks better and it's easier to see specifically what variant they're in and other useful information.

I don't know, I never understood all the people complaining about thermal being overpowered. It's not, it's just a vision mode, it helps you to see thermal signatures from really far away, but it's not going to give you omnipresence on the map.

I remember one time I was spectating a friend of mine as he was shooting at a little light a couple hundred meters away. It was alpine so it was very clear and easy to hit the little scamp, but another guy was yelling at my friend to turn on thermal. It's like...why would you need thermal in this situation? You can clearly see your opponent, there's zero benefit to using thermal at that time.

I think people just see a minor situational advantage to it and think OH MAH GAWD THIS IS SOOOO OP when it actually isn't. It wasn't back when it was more clear, either. People are weird..

how about we wait for april patch that promises us vision changes ok?

there is somewhere in command chair post that shows how will look like the new heat vision and night vision
if it will be implemented in that way well at least in cold areas your mech will be pretty much invisible in heat vision and on long ranges it will be harder to see anything at all

Why did you necro this thread, sC4r?

It was done before the changes of vision modes were even announced.

Point of fact, thermal vision detects infarred radiation (light). IR light has a longer wavelength than visible light and that allows it to be detected at GREATER ranges than visible light. It is not blocked as easily by particulate matter between the source and the detector (snow/dust). The same way that AM radio signals travel further than FM radio signals. This is basic physics and anyone who argues against the way it is done needs to brush up on their science.
