Has Anyone Else Had A Problem With Burn-Out?

But, for some reason, this game just... lost me. The other weekend I finally had some time to play, got a case of beer in the fridge, sat down... no work to worry about, just some alone time. I went on FaceBook for about 10 minutes, then looked at my joystick, paused, and went "meh." Had really no desire to fire the game back up. I just went out and did something.
It sucks, because I was waiting all week to have time to play, and then I just really didn't even care. I don't think there's anything wrong with the game, I don't know what it is.

I start to feel the same way. I'm pretty much done PUGing. I'll drop 2-3 matches solo then watch TV or something until some of my guildies pop on and then drop with them.
Too repetitive for me.

sometimes I play more (like the last week) and in other weeks I may not touch the game a single time ...
same goes for other games

Personally, I don't mind only having 5 maps because I like the game and its the only game where a battle can feel truly epic sometimes.
Then again I'm also the type of person who doesn't mind playing Dust literally every time I play a counterstrike game

The problem with this game is that there's not enough content, and there's not enough variety in play (ie modes or strategies), so it IS easy to get burned out on it.

The beta guys do have a tendency to burn out, probably due to the lack of content. We do the same thing over and over and over again for months on end. Bet a lot of the OG testers will hang around for a little while once the game goes full release but there will probably be a lot of people that are just burned out completely and will move along.

Guitars

Add the fact that there will almost always be a disconnect on your team, which means you WILL be pugstomped because playing man-down in this game is almost futile.

I mastered 2 out of 3 Atlases and barely play each new patch release, also the recent IFF blue color is hurting my eyes
trying new mechs is out of the question with the MC only mech bay purchase
the only other way is to sell one of my owned mechs .. not gonna happen

Sometimes weeks go by without me touching it, even if I get an urge to play I start it up and I don't log in. I think that's perfectly fine and perfectly normal. I'm quite happy that MWO is here when I do want to play and I try to set some money aside to buy stuff when things I like come along. I might be very active and grind a bit to max out some mechs now and then, but that's how I usually play. I prefer to play a lot and achieve something (like maxing out elites on mechs I like) and then going into casual/cruise mode after that. It's not the game's fault though because that is just how I treat games these days.
There are people with more free time and dedication to be online all the time. I am sure that their friends contribute a lot to this habit and I would probably play more if my friends were Battletech/Mechwarrior fans. I've gotten more than a few people to try it out and I hyped it up enough to get a couple of buddies to go Legendary with me while a couple more went elite. I also have a few friends playing it as well but I still have not grouped up with any of them at all and still have all pug games.
Play when you feel like it and do something else if you want to. That's just natural.
Edit:
Also my internet has a tendency to suck at times and when it does you won't see me online much because rubberbanding = rage.

That being said, I love the game just as much now as I ever have. I don't know what it is. I expected to get burned out by now but I just haven't. I've been playing since Closed Beta and I might have taken a week or two off since then.

I do think Community Warfare and Game Types (IE Defend/Attack, Escort, Capture the Flag, King of the Mountain, Drop Ship Mode), need to get in the game sooner than later.
Alpine on Conquest has the inkling of that sort of play, but it's not quite there.

Just to avoid burnout before Community Warfare etc are in. And that's why I don't join a Merc/Clan. Just waiting for the right time xD

- the fourteenth consecutive round of thermal city night...
- trying to determine which of your already mastered mechs to take....
- realizing there is no loadout you haven't tried yet, even the cheese builds....
- waiting for yet another ECM bandaid, even though most of the community has been telling PGI for months ECM is broken...
- you realize there are fewer maps, including variants, than sticks on a king size KitKat...
- knowing you'd rather clean your ears with a shrimp fork than drop on thermal city night AGAIN...
- the mech you've been waiting to pilot in game won't be released till July at the earliest...

Having said that, this game hasn't so much 'burned out' as turned off for now for several reasons:
1) Depth/Metagame - It's just the same deathmatch style over and over with the only long term changes to your C-Bill account and unlocking features on mech and modules.
2) Matchmaking - I joined to play with friends, MM v3 has helped with the difficulty a bit but the problem is STILL no tonnage/BV limits and no ability to play with more than 4 but less than 8. 8v8 completely turned us away when...
3) ECM & Misc. Broken Systems - ECM pretty much killed it for us and it's still not addressed. I could stomach some of the changes from TT as I didn't feel they 'broke' the game too much and adjustments were made such as Double Armor, Double Heat Sink (1.4). Artemis 'Death Rain' was addressed promptly but they simply won't admit they made a mistake combining all 3 ECM features in a 2 slot 1.5 ton equipment that they don't even factor into the MM process.
4) Priority - Their priorities are completely different from what a lot of the 'core' fanbase would like. Rather than enable a league outside of the game, with private matchmaking which to be fair they are implementing at some point probably a year or more down the road, they are working primarily on their own version of Metagame.
Unfortunately, I don't have faith that they will implement a 'realistic' drop scenario as they have to cater to the masses and if the masses all want to bring DDC's then they can. Private Matchmaking would allow us to train and practice against each other which would be a LOT better than what we have now as we have more fun blowing each other up than rolling PUGs.
