i'm more curious about connection speed. my down is 31Mbps and my up is 6Mbps. it just said internet connection speed so i just selected less than10Mbps since i assumed they meant up speed. still not sure if i chose the right answer.

i also got a "Windows Experience Index Rating: WEI assessment xml not found" even though my WEI is 5.9, but i just left it as "not found".

probably won't kill my chances though since i would assume they're looking to test the game on a wide array of connection and hardware configs, and the WEI isn't really a reliable way of analyzing a computer's performance since i've seen mediocre at best builds score 5.9.

Yeah, from what I've seen the Window Experience pegs your HD (and thus your system) at 5.9 unless you have a SSD.

The WEI, like most things from Microsoft, is a great concept but poorly implemented in its first few iterations. It should really be more of a weighted factor instead of a lowest common denominator for the index value proper, but when you realize that they created it as an easy way for a 'regular' user to go and identify what they could do to upgrade their computer and get the biggest performance boost from then it makes sense. I really would like to see it expand into more of a system benchmark tool that enthusiasts are more familliar with that could be used as the devs here are using it to really give a quick performance snapshot but alas with Win8's focus on being a jack of all trades and bringing WinRT/ARM into the fold I dont see this happening anytime soon.

(Having a 7.2 sure is fun though! :) )

QFT.

Absolutely the most stupid thing Microsoft did was not take into account multiple drives/drive arrays and multiple video cards. The second worse was limiting the final score to the lowest instead of averaging them.

For example: A top end, brand new Core i7 Ivy Bridge PC with double GTX 690s would score identical to a low-end PC from 2006 if they both had the same hard drive. And a PC that gets the slowest GPU recognized as primary gets the WEI to match, even if the user has a faster GPU for gaming.

I answered truthfully. I even put that I was getting a founder's package. It doesn't matter. I'll be in July with my Inception 'mech.

I know right. Was just speculation on my part. I should just chalk up my not being in yet to my bad luck. I roll enough snake eyes on the table top, I should know better. :D

Good luck with the next wave of invites everyone.

And then my pilot passes out when all he needed was a 3-roll. My luck is way to horrible to be good at TT.

AS much as I loved that game.. it sure had some bug issues.. mr beta tester :D

I reported tons of bugs that never got patched... Reality was, Microsoft's capacity to fix the 200-300 unique bugs we found was not what it needed to be. Out of that, they only fixed maybe 30-40 bugs. It was extremely disappointing to see the huge bug log and know that the majority of those would never be fixed, but thats what you get with a big publisher.

I wonder if I shot myself in the foot by stating that I did not intend to get a founders package.... oh well.
I wonder about people answering the beta testing question. I have seen some truely, truely screwed up bug reports in past betas..

seems like they wouldnt pick those people as they might buy a package for the beta key if they get desparate enough.

The criteria for beta key selection...

They printed out all the names and put the pages in a cage and then added hungry cats. They prodded the cats with hot irons and made them fight to the death. The names on the torn pieces of paper that fell out of the cage were the names selected for the beta.

I mean honestly, how does it work? Do the devs just pick people at random that got their Beta status thing 100% filled out, do they pick favorites, is there a certain criteria that people had to fit to get in, number of forum posts, etc. etc. etc.

Thought? Facts? Anything?

The main criteria for any game is will it play on computer X, Y or Z.

So selection for testing is from the oldest to the newest with everything in between.

Granted the old computers will have to run with low graphics but they want it to run on as many computers as possible.

The more montherboards/graphics cards that are compatible the more subscriptions they can get = more $.
