All because it is a Arcade style play.and not a simulator that they are familiar with,
Like 'LoL' Every one knows all the load outs for each chassis and it came down to maneuvering and timing your shots. We have the same understanding of combat as PC players and probably have a better understanding of what MWO will be then PC players. As we are forced to uses all weight classes on the field
We Mechassault pilots will talk with are tonnage on the battlefield.

MW Mechs handle differently than MA Mechs. Major point difference is in the speed and capabilities of the movement and agility of the Mechs.
Aside from that you also have the fact that in MA, you had at most, what, a hand full of pilots per match? MWO is most likely going to have a HELL of a lot more then that, plus MUCH larger battlefields. You prepared for that capacity of destruction coming at you from a horrifying amount of angles? Me thinks no.
My advice, drop the controller and grab a copy of MW4 and a joystick. Start practicing and learning now, and MAYBE you'll do better then your friends.

Comparing the skill cap of any console game to a PC game is silly. PC games are always more difficult than consoles because their control scheme allows, and thus requires, more precision to perform at the highest levels.

1) Radar/signature management. This includes, but is not limited to: Passive vs. Active radar, BAP/ECM, targeting, and intentional Shut Down.
2) Heat management beyond that of a simple heat meter. This means equipping/managing heat sinks, coolant, calculating how much heat your variant's alpha will generate and compensating appropriately, how to deal with heaters, etc.
3) Actually aiming. Sorry, charging up a homing PPC (they ****ing homed, for chrissakes) behind a building, then popping out of cover to throw it out and follow it up with a wave of LRMs that instantly lock on won't work in MechWarrior. Weapons won't home like that, you don't have auto-aim and you'll actually need to focus on the Head, CT, Rear or Legs if you want to kill someone.
Other mechanics you may not have heard of:
1) The MechLab
2) Shutdown Override
3) Getting Up
4) Zoom Enhancement
5) Maximum Torso Twist Range
6) Turning vs. Torso Twisting to aim
7) Throttle's effect on Turning Speed
8) Weapon Grouping; Single, Chain and Group Fire
While I appreciate how eager you are to die, you would be wise to recognize the additional layer of complexity that you're about to jump into. You won't have snappy 360-degree torsos that can turn on a dime, you won't have your precious auto-aim and you won't stand a shadow of a chance in a stock loadout.

The actual statistics of game mechanics are irrelevant when comparing user skill and interaction.

I'm confused here, are you advocating for MechAssault as being a comparable skill set to MW?
Or are you saying it doesn't compare and agreeing with the rest of us?
If the latter, I say good on ya.
If the former, Adaptation has NOTHING to do with the comparison. You're telling me that "Adapting" to a few different Mech variants and how they handle in an "Arcade" style game allows that person to "Adapt" to the complexity of a Simulator? The amount of controls and options available to them that can't be done using a controller will flat out send them into sensory over load their first firefight!
That said, lets move on.
Edit: Also, just actually read the title of this thread. How does MechAssault translate into Freebirth Pilots? Freebirth is a term reserved amongst the Clan societies, not the IS. Although... if you are using it in a context that MW players/pilots are Trueborn, and MA pilots/players as Freeborn, then yes I could see the correlation you are using. If that's the case, Kudo's to you being a console player and actually looking up Lore.

Except they deal with the BT universe. and have mechs. Plus MA didn't even follow the universe correctly. Prometheus for example wasn't a Atlas it was a Daiashi, piloted by Prince Victor Steiner-Davion, given to him by Jamie Wolf of Wolfs Dragoons.
I'm not going to even go into the game play differences, FenixStryk hit that nail already.

Of course you'll learn to adapt. I prefer you stay with the game and generate revenue for pgi rather than rage quitting after getting ur *** handed over by veteran and clearly superior PC mechwarriors.
Thats exactly wats gonna happen if u play MWO as if its another MA.

This, in spades.
Team tactics, learning the strength and weakness of each mech, and being able to identify threats and relegate orders based on that is going to be huge. PC Mech pilots are used to adapting, we know what basic models a mech can be, but almost EVERYONE modifies their mechs, so there's quite a bit of guesswork and strategy involved.
Having spent so long playing PC mech games, those pilots are going to have a distinct and powerful edge over those who think they're hot stuff because of Meh Assault. Not saying that all people who liked it are bad players, but don't be surprised when people disabuse you of the notion that PC mech fighting isn't going to be a lot different...especially with the different weight classes each having a special role to give to the team.
