The thing that ruined games like Call of Duty for me was when they started adding in air strikes. And in Wolfenstein it was artillery strikes. People figured out too many easy ways to get what they needed to do either one and the games became not fun. I had thought it was finally great to play a game that didn't have some off-the-board strikes and yet, it seems MWO will get it as well.

It's been in the Dev Blogs since forever. Check the 2nd Role Warefare dev blog, off-board artillery is listed under "command skills."

I want to see artillery strikes using coolant flush rounds and air strikes dropping coolant flush payloads.

If it's implemented with the game in its current state, it will suck. Now if it's in with Community Warfare, then it might be a different story.

I think I would like to see it only useable during their Warfare or clan wars battles. Who knows, maybe it will only amount to not much more than an lrm5 strike.

I agree with Broceratops, I hope the command console is a requirement. That way there's a tonnage penalty.

I like the idea of artillery and air strikes to use against teams that just turtle up into a deathball. This could be even worse when 12v12 rolls up. So even if the enemy team has no artillery, you won't know that and if you are all bunched up it's a prime target.

Would be nice to get the game to push out into more lance style battles.

I just realized something.

Many of the Role Warfare "pilot skills" have been implemented as modules in game. Off-board Arty will be 1 time use consumables that follow the same purchase structure as coolant flush. :(

Pffft.

Real men load their artillery with Urbanmech drop-pods.

Very true , if its only a thumper artillery gun then that won't be too bad. In table top terms it does 15 points of damage to the target hex and 5 to each surrounding hex.

Really? Come on. This was announced a YEAR ago. Just toughen up and take it.

ok..that was trollish..sorry.

It was announced long ago, and a lot of us are actually looking forward to it. I suspect it will be harder to leverage than you think. Remember, this isn't infantry armour..these are 20-100 ton machines moving from 48-140 kph....that's pretty fast and should be able to get away from an artillery strike fairly quick.
