After reading through this ok great your better off resurrecting NBT or MWL but you all have a problem YOU CANT PICK A MAP GROUP UP AND DROP IN MWO DERP. So what you going to resurrect MechWarrior4 Mercenaries' and play on Gameranger? Ill go for that idea as long as you leave out that crappy MEKTEK MOD and play PR1?

If you can find a team that matches you on MW4, Spherewars does not forbid this.
If you find an opponent to match you on MegaMek do so.
If MWO... sadly.... syncdrop in the 8v8 queue
Thats it.

No Merc unit would take a contract to get paid after the job is done. Too easy for clients to "walk away" without paying. Especially given that most Houses have better numbers than most Merc units.

Half up front and half at delivery as a minimum.

Or are we talking about Mercnet? where a third party holds the cash in escrow? That would be the only way.

Well since the contracting is under development a 50 / 50 payment after half the contract time would be possible.

But really? Come on: I wrote this thing for nice people who have fun roleplaying, fighting over planets and stuff.
Not for people, who treat mercs there as if they where real Inner Sphere houselords to cheat on a merc unit...

And if it really should happen... I am the master of the database and therefore the Master of C-Bills ^^

Nice to see the players picking up where mwo is lacking.Someone's got to......
Wish you the best of luck with this.It would be nice to have something to do with any kind of persistence, even if it's not "official".

I personally LOVE this.

And while I don't have time to dedicate to running a group I would definitely be interested in participating in one.

I have MWO, MWLL, and can get megamek again.

Drop me a pm if you have a group who is willing to seriously give this a shot.

Thank you for all the hard work, it couldn't have been a small task.

I will create a freelancer forum on spherewars, where units can hire freelancers. if permanently or for 2 weeks or what ever.... players choice ^^

But to get a unit in the first place... 8 members minimum are required.

I went ahead and put in for a unit that could be flexible. I think I can get one or two more to join. If nothing else it will be fun to test the process.

Um, there's no need for this, and your league will be pointless in around a year.

as it is, there won't be much around soon if coolant makes it into the game, and many players will probably just stop playing.

Seriously though, Spherewars, while an awesome idea... there's no point for it. CW will make it history and leagues are pretty much dead due to ELO rankings as it sits.

This is untrue.

Community Warfare will be bringing simulation play which will allow for teams to set up drops with one another without the need for a random ELO drop queue. This will make league play viable and controllable. Community Warfare will also not make planetary leagues obsolete simply because leagues can offer much more than the CW base can.

In Leagueplay you will have the option of strategic operations such as jumpship and finance management that won't be in CW. In addition in leagueplay the amount of factions will be unlimited. CW will have a place for PUGs to compete over planets and further their mechlabs, while leagueplay will be a much more competitive environment.

In short, Community Warfare will never be a replacement for any sort of leagueplay, Planetary or Ladder based.

Grayson, can you give me a rough idea of how much units will be earning from their faction payouts, so I can get an idea on a sensible pricing scheme for Mercenary work.

Any prices you could recommend either would be good =)

Maus, just go to the market and whatch the prices for mechs.
Let them pay you for a estimated combat loss of 70% of your troops.
The less you loose the higher the gain then.

And if you ever will have more mechs than your transportation can handle but enough people online to play more... let them pay you a middle class dropship per big mission ( full planetary invasion i.e.)

By this you will be fair enough and still make good profit i think.

As the Northwind fighting week will start tonight, the Inner Sphere Map can now be seen at http://spherewars.ohost.de for everyone. You will not be able to see actual troop movements, but the current holdings of each planet by faction.

So check out Northwind!^^

Here you can see a short video about how to setup a unit in Spherewars and how to report / resolve a fight.
