not impressed with this 'consumables' addition. MWO needs to be fair and balanced at the highest competitive level in order to grow solid player base(more players = more $$$ in the long run rather than a few ppl buying consumables in the short run). Hopefully the devs get enough responses about this weak as heck* consumable stuff so they drop it ASAP.
please devs, invest more time into balance and map design rather than this fluff. Other than that keep up the good work, really appreciate what you guys are putting together.

i think that consumables (in terms of you can only use them once per match, but replenish between matches) would definately have their place in MWO
just think about the coolant flush in MW4...that was awesome and tactical
but having to pay for every use is just madness...300-like madness

I don't disagree they should be here. I disagree that the third tier is MC only. The devs seemed to support a position of balance across paying and F2P clients. But with this latest introduction it creates inequality. If you look at the comments that Paul made it looks more like the arguments in defense of racism in my country.
Small Plus Medium = 35% total cooling
Large Cooling = 35% total cooling
So whether you buy with MC or cbills you get the same bonus. Different but equal. Or so it seems in the eyes of the devs that I once trusted.
But with consumables taking module slots, which are rather limited, those that buy with MC will have the opportunity to have more benefits while cbill consumable users will have to use twice the slots to get the same effect. Leading to half as many effects total or a reduction in their viability.
But when has separate but equal really been equal?

Consumables are a bad game mechanic in general.
Roll coolant flush in as either a property of all heatsinks, or as a module that any mech can equip. one time purchase.
Also artillery strike should just be a new weapon type like in mw4.
What this game does not need, if it intends to hold a competitive gaming community, is more pay-only advantages destabilizing pvp.

only morons think that having consumables has any effect on the competitive community.
In the competitive community, there are "rules" about certain things. 1 being no consumables allowed. Problem solved.
consumables also take module slots, which are limited, some only have 1 slot. Now factor in that taking those consumables removes some very nice free perks like target decay and such.

While we could do without it...
I can see it as a source of revenue for the devs...
and frankly... of the people I talked to, very few ppl who arent founders spent that much on the game.
they need money. lol
