Saw something in the patch notes that I think is relevant to the interests of anyone who runs SRMs on their robot:

Quote

- When you fire a volley of Artemis guided missiles (from an Artemis equipped missile launcher, with line of sight to the target), they travel through the air in a distinct formation.

Can anyone who has had a chance to check verify if "artemis guided missile" includes SRMs or not? Thanks :)

SRM's would travel in a formation - for about a second. This was mainly a change to LRM behavior (there is a youtube vid on it).

As far as I know, this is still the deal

NOTES : First I'll address LRMs and then SRMs as they do it to a certain degree as well. Also here is a preview of the new Artemis formation.

The visual update in this patch only affects the Artemis LRMs for now

Only affects LRMs.

All artemis does for SRMs is increase their range slightly and give them better convergence, so there really isn't a reason for them to have a visual change in formation.

And I know someone is going to say "but my SRMs have tighter spread when I use artemis!"

Look closely at non-artemis SRM's, notice how they fly for a bit, then converge on to a single point in an x shape? All artemis does is speed up that convergence.

My wording fail.

Yes, SRMs get a spinny formation as well.

It just doesn't look as good as the LRMs so look for it to 'upgrade' in the near future.

Thanks Thomas! Do they have it in this patch, or is that for later?

I am already an LRM fan (I wasn't always...then i found Artemis) -- today, I am going to be even more so.

Splatcat buff!

EDIT:

The SRM shoot one pattern in the test grounds, and like they used to in an actual game?

Noticing SRMs sometimes fire in two volleys instead of one, even if you have enough tubes.

That's interesting - so you mean like they're only spiraling on test targets? I wonder if you need to be targeting the mech you're aiming them at for Artemis to kick in or something?

I have 6x SRM6 and have them set into 2 groups. When I fire each group they fire two volleys. This takes place in the testing grounds.

In an actual game they still just shoot out in a big mass. Like they have always done.

I actually like the multi-shots.

Huh, that's interesting. I wonder what's causing that?

EDIT: Does the two-group one have a different formation, or is it the same pre-patch formation?

Is there any consideration or work being done to make all missiles ripple fire as well?
