Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?
No crash message, I have to open task manager and end task

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
Random in game play, usually as I am actually in combat. Walking the field does nothing.
Also, spectating, it almost happens EVERY time I spectate.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
Sometimes I reboot clean, usually I just reload the application and go back in. Every 3rd crash I will reboot just in case there are any memory black holes.

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
I don't spectate anymore, due to the high frequency of crashes.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Fullscreen 1360x768, set to Low system spec, motion blur off

What are your System specs?
Win7 ultimate x64
z68 board, intel 2600k cpu (no overclocking)
16gb ram
8800 GTS 640mb video card (yeah, know why I run at 1360x768?)
pair of ocz vertex 4's 128gb in raid 0
I can go crazy into detail, but don't think anyone cares.

These are pretty regular since this patch. I'll still play, it doesn't really grind my gears so much. If there is any kind of debug tool I can run to help pick this stuff apart, sign me up. I was planning on flushing my OS and loading clean.

Not sure if these events are both from me terminating the process, or only the second one:

Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?
None, my game simply freezes and requires task manager to close.

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
In-game. It's been happening randomly since the Feb 5th patch. It happens most often on frozen city, usually during LRM impacts, explosions, or when i'm firing LRMs myself.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
Happens mid-combat, usually when the first shootouts begin for the match. Again, happens only when LRMs launch/impact, or explosions. Increases in frequency on frozen city.

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
For the most part, yes. The past 3 games on frozen city in my trebuchet resulted in a freeze immediately after firing LRMs, however it's very random.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Fullscreen 1680x1050, no VSync, all settings very high. Nothing changed since last patch.

What are your System specs?

More digging on these error messages in Crydev boards are leading me to believe that it is not actually a network error, but a somewhat commonly encountered error in map design. At least all discussion of these particular error messages seems to be based around developers making tweaks to the maps to solve the issue, rather than users needing to 'fix their packet loss'.

Guess I'll give up sleuthing for a bit and wait for the next patch to test again.

Good initiative MourningZero!

Might be tied in with how I solved my crashing: it's or by adding the game to my firewalls trusted applications, or by enabling vsync, or by reinstalling the game. I'm inclined towards the first, maybe the firewall blocked some packets and the client or server couldn't handle that.

That my issue went away could also be because the devs tweaked the netcode or the maps. I don't think maps for me, as I was having the issue in every map. Has your situation improved?

Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?
No. Black screen and required to force close.
Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
Directly after entering a match.
What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
Joining the match (with a friend).
Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
Have gotten black screens at exiting matches before, not when entering.
Also gotten into 2 matches with once partial and once full HUD disappearing, but forgot to report those.
What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
All set to high, already so since last patch.
What are your System specs?
Windows 7 64 bit, AMD FX-4100 Quad Processor, ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Note: I'd also think it'd be nice if it was possible to rejoin a running match when losing the connection. Not sure if this is planned or even feasible, but thought I'd mention it at least.

Quick Note, I have been able to reduce the number of crashes I've been having in this game. I'm currently using Medium settings, but I turned off Anti-A and unchecked V-sync. I also reverted my drivers to my manufacturer's last set of drivers instead of ATI's latest version of Catalyst. By doing this, and making sure Chrome is completely shut down, I've been able to complete most of my matches without the game crashing. It still crashes, but only if I linger on the results page. I will try an upgrade back to the latest Catalyst drivers to see if it makes a difference in when the game crashes.

Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Professional x32, SP1
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz
RAM: 4 GB
Video: MSI Radeon HD 7770, 1GB
Resolution: 1920x1080
Drivers: AMD Catalyst 9.12.0.0

Random in game play, usually as I am actually in combat. It happens more often on Alpine.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
Playing the game or spectating

Theres no reproducable steps it just freezes no matter if i shoot or just stand there or spectate.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Fullscreen 1920x1080, set to high, motion blur and DOF is off. Didnt change any settings.

What are your System specs?
Win7 x64
2500k cpu
16gb ram
GTX570

Happens on Alpine frequently and sometimes on other maps to. Game just freezes no soundloops or error reports. Need to close the process with the task-manager.

No error. Game hard locks and requires ctrl-alt-del task kill.

Quote

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?

In game.

Quote

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?

Various. No descernable pattern.

Quote

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?

Crash is random and frequent but appears to be more common using Cataphract 4X. There is usually a sound loop stuck when it crashes, sometimes missiles and sometimes AMS.

Quote

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

All on high except AA is off.

Speaking of statistics if only 10% of your population is posting to these forums, that's still a disturbing number of people (in the thousands now) that are having these issues.

As it's a F2play game I imagine most simply walk away never to return. This should be your highest priority item. NETCODE, Gamestability, etc.

Sooo, I think I may have fixed the crashing for some people.

I have been crashing to mechlab a lot since the last patch. On 3 separate computers with different specs.

I am currently working with support on it, however we are going through .pak stuff, graphics stuff, etc.

BUT, I have found something that (so far) has eliminated any crashing. I would like some of you to give it a try if you are getting a constant crash to mechlab right near the start of the game, or even mid game.

I signed up for ibvpn and used openvpn to play the game from a canadian server. it barely affected my ping in game and now whenever I have it on, no crashes.

Turned it off? Crashed every game in a row.

I know someone had posed a network packet issue as the cause of crashing and this might support the notion that it is a network code issue causing these crashes.

So I doubt it matters what vpn service you use, just something close to home so it doesn't affect your ping too much.

So if you guys are frustrated like I was then give it a shot.

By the way this was an accidental discovery since I just happened to sign up for a VPN for nongaming reasons.

Received notice that my particular issue has been deemed solved. I just took that to mean the ticket was closed, but I tried some test rounds this afternoon and am 7 games in without a crash. Considering my track record for the past 2 weeks has been 0 games completed with probably about 5 attempts, that is promising!

First game I have tried in a week. Made it it about 4-5 minutes and crash back to mech lab. Problem still exists. At least I made it 4-5 minutes. The last time I tried to play I crashed back to mech lab as soon as the match started 4 matches strait and I just gave up.

I can play in the training grounds for hours without a crash. Packet corruption seems to be the culprit and the game drops you instead of dealing with it. This all started back when they tried to fix the net code in January to help fix lag shield.

I keep hearing that the errors we see are normal and don't crash people or cause client problems (logic cries BS at that btw)

Since the last patch I'm having frequent issues with the client freezing / crashing during combat. I don't have an issue in the testing grounds, but in live drops I'll frequently start up, get into the fight, and then the client will freeze during the match. This has happened several times after I've taken hits from energy weapons, so I am wondering if it may be related to the recent netcode changes? It does not appear to matter what map I have spawned on or what mode I am playing in.

I will be forced to end the MWOMercs.exe process to exit the client. I am currently running medium graphics, 1920 x 1080 resolution, fullscreen

I have attempted to uninstall / reinstall the client and have updated my video card, network card, and motherboard drivers to the latest version.

System specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium (X64)

Intel Core2 Duo E8400 @ 3ghz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
TrendNet TEW-684UB wireless adapter

UPDATE: TrendNet put out another update for my network card that seems to have fixed the issue.

Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?

Sometimes no error message, but since latest patch more often "Memory Allocation Error" message.

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?

Crash accurs after droping into the game. Often before map loading screen is shown, sometimes when map has loaded and mechs drop, sometimes shortly into the game (up to 1 min).

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?

Launching the game.

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?

Sometimes, sometimes no.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

No change since last patch.. Effects Med, Object Detail Very High, Particels & Post Processing Off, Shading High, Shadows Med, Textures High, Enviromental Very High

What are your System specs? (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])

Win XP Professional SP 3
4 GB RAM (3,2 GB in use due to 32 Bit OS)
Core2Dual E 8400 3 GHz

Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?
No, just crashes whenever I see Explosions, AC 20, LRMs are the worst offenders

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
In the matches while playing, never crashes anywhere else, mostly while witnessing explosions in a match.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
TdrDelay adjusted to max., Lowered all graphics settings, Deleting Shaders, none of these stop the crashing from occuring.

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
Yeap all the damn time.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Since Feb 5 patch had this problem. Never had a single in game crash before that patch. See above. Even before I dropped my system settings my FPS was 90 to 120 on average.

Post AA is on, all other settings on medium, motion blur is off. Also since the FEB 5 patch I cannot select my native resolution anymore???????? (1440x900)

What are your System specs?

Alienware X51- Top shelf model.
Windows 7 ultimate
Gen3 I-7 core processor
8GB ram
1 TB hd

Nvidia 660 t1
