Really? Because it tells me that people want a well-balanced game that isn't dominated by a few superior builds. Played an 8-man drop lately? Because I play them all the time, and I don't think it's coincidence that the more competitive teams tend to run NOTHING but a combination of Raven 3Ls, Centurion 9Ds and Atlas D-DCs.

Cent-Ds are superior now?

......to what?

I haven't run 3L's in pugs for a long time, it feels like cheating.

3L's are an easy kill these days, I've killed them whilst piloting Spiders, Commandos and Jenners mate. If you want to take a 3L in a PUG match carry on and don't feel like it's cheating as they're really not that much stronger than the rest of them these days and they have really weak legs :) always shoot for their legs.

In the 8 man queues I'm seeing less and less Raven's and more Jenners with 5 or 6 medium lasers, and the ECM definitely is not the flavour of the month anymore. In Wolf Spider 8 man teams we might have one or two ECM mechs max and that would normally be Cicada 3M's and we have no issues taking out a team relying on ECM too much. It's just not that big a deal anymore and other team's are also coming round to that idea as well. Much more diversity on the 8 man field and really looking forward to the 12 man teams, it should be epic.

Spiders and jenners do enough damage, without me jumping in a 3L again, they're just not fun any more.

To almost any other medium? They're relatively fast even with a standard engine, they have a much smaller frame than the Treb or Hunch, and their weapons are spread all over (including laser slots on the CT, which may not sound like much, but means the Cent can remain pretty effective late in matches even after its arms/side torsos get taken off).

I'm not saying they're the end-all-be-all, but they're one of the best 'Mechs.

this tread is till alive?
with fixes and oh so "fixes"
raven hit box become "side torsos and legs" - no matter where enemy is targeting, those locations will always receive damage (this was ridiculous to see perfectly intact arms, orange internals without armor side torsos and more than half armor ct with red legs, after skirmishing against opponents who clearly targeted cabin\ct)
lasers do easy trick on lights - jenner have way more lasers and jj as a lil bonus.
ssrm miss actively maneuvering targets\fast moving targets - not to mention that one of the launchers is gimped 1 tube narc launcher)
say hello to undead spider with hitbox so bugged that it can shrug off most incoming fire even while remain stationary. also ssrm useless against them - apparently they "cant maneuver" to running straight spider.

so yes, im piloting 3l with 3ml+2ssrm for my squad. when i see ravens i know that they are dead - im pretty good with lasers and maneuvering. when i see jenners i know that in most cases i will receive considerable damage and jenner will bail out stripped off armor and maybe crippled (jj). but when i see small ping adequate pilot spider i know that both me and my squadmate are royally fked. lasers wont hit or hit with close to 0 damage, ssrms will hit with 0 damage most of the time and we will constantly receive damage to side torsos and legs.

nice example was MechPilotX - pretty good spider pilot jumped around etc but he recieved 19 salvos of 3 mlas from 100m in torso, and about 40 ssrms all confirmed hits - that is only from me. and survived with no internals exposed and a little less than half or armor on each section. under fire from 3 mechs. with raven constantly unloading guns on the back ct from 100m. riiiiight.
also i died from being out of bounds overheated after smashing 4 alphas in his overheated spider. - meh me still noob.

I just figured it out. The 3L is MWO's noob tube. Anyone who has read or watched video's on game balancing knows the reason behind having something easy to use and effective as a balance tool. After being face-***** by 4 of them I felt a little sour but now I've had this realization, I'm happy that they're in the game. It gives me a challenge to build against (no splatcat ;))

I think the RVN-4X and RVN-2X could use an engine buff. I'm not sure why they can't carry the XL295 like the 3L can, especially the 2X because it carries less equipment (no ECM or JJs).

EXCEPT noobs don't get access to it until they have earned at least 5.8 million and it is almost impossible to overcome with any amount of skill. i have seen the video you are talking about and this is missing several key factors.

if we are going that route then LRM make for a much better noob tube. almost anybody can be effective with them.

streaks don't teach any of even the most basic skills needed for other weapons.
