Hello,

here is another idea about heat:

Actual state: (as i know it!)

- heat is a problem of the engine
- overheating forces a shutdown of the engine and probably damage to the engine

How it is in the books:

- overall heat of the engine
- damage to weapons, i.e. laser melts if used to often in a short period

Idea:

- introduction of heatcapacity to individual weapons
- introduction of "Heat Distribution System":

- a Heatsink will first try to cooldown a source of heat in the same section its build into

- heat, that goes over the capacity of the heatsink, will be redirected to heatsinks with free cooling-capacity

- per "turn" (i.e. 1 sec or 0.5 sec) there can only a specific amount (i.e. 10 or 15 or 20 Heatpoints) travel from section A to section B

- if at the end of a "turn" there is still to much heat stored in a weapon, there is a chance of damage to it. Or it is less affective, or it just shotsdown it self, or.....

- overheating of the engine as it is.

Problems:

How much work would be needed to program it into the game?
How much would it affect the performance of the game?
Would it be too much to handle for the casual player?
Wouldn't the free heatsinks in the engine not be rendered ineffective? Maybe if two section a connected by two heatsinks then more heat could travel? mmh is this going too far?

Last words:

Bad english i have, sorry i am.
The working out of this idea is still in progress...
