The idea is that a mobile mech will remain mobile and hard to hit or anticipate. A stationary mech should have no clue that they need to are about to get pummeled.
That is all.

(joke)
But on topic: I don't think they should have the same warning like the LRMs too but have some signal that they are coming (Shouldn't be a instant "damage everyone over here plz"). Like seeing the planes come in from far or the sound of artillery shells coming in (actually they probably should have it so you can hear the background booming sounds as well). The plane one would be neat because you would have to face the direction of the planes coming in to know they will be bombing soon. (wouldn't be hard though since it should be coming from there side)

In either event I'm super excited for arty, I currently have to sit behind hills in many matches because of so many LRM boats and no personal ECM. If they make it so those LRM boats can also just Arty the **** out of my hill then it's going to be so much fun for me and my increasingly useless medium mechs.

Without some sort of notification, people will potentially be able to eliminate enemy mechs with little skill or exposure to danger. This would be counter-productive.

Sadly, I was thinking this too. I really hope they changed there minds on this whole consumable stuff and rework it or remove it completely.

There is no skill involved in dodging something you know is coming. There is much more skill involved in being unpredictable and always on the move and generally being a harder target to hit.

Also, will these bombardments be centered on a (moving) targeted mech or static grid location? Will air strikes be vector based or just area-effect? There are so many questions that still need to be answered.

There is no skill in dropping an artillery strike from your spawn area in complete cover.

People complain about players running off on their own and getting killed, "stay with the group" is the accepted strategy. Now you want everyone to constantly be on the move. Can't have both, different mechs move at different speeds.

For LRM, the warning pretty much tells you:
A. Missiles are coming.
B. It's headed right for you.

No commander is going to send troops on the ground without being able to protect them from such an obvious threat. Even today, 2013, there are warnings and anti missile systems in actual use.
Let me know it's coming, give me a few seconds to lock on and maybe a 50/50 chance to knock it out of the sky - now that's realistic

Well you'll be in cover when you call in the strike but some one else on your team will still need line of site to the target area and spot for you.
