Did anyone else notice that Streaks can miss? I just checked my stats and I have a 80% hit rate for Streaks. My Lasers doing better (92% for ML and LPL).

Did anyone notice Streaks missing their targets in battle?

to clarify I like them to miss. Pretty happy with the change :)

Could AMS be generating the misses? or could you have been too close to terrain for the streak to avoid en route to the target?

I noticed this too. I had a miss as I made a pass on the enemy. I almost jumped out of my chair with joy. Why didn't they include it in the patch notes?

It's been the case for a while. They CAN be dodged by really quick movers or by someone ducking round a corner before they hit.

Also, if you fire at too extreme an angle (I think it's like over 45% to either side of you), they can't track properly...because physics :)

No. I know for a fact the missiles would clip right through me if necessary to score a hit. They were tracking targets behind me.

I see no difference, you never had a guaranteed hit with streaks, obstacles, AMS, target dying before the streaks hit and possible splash damage from other missiles are all reasons why you'd see misses.

More interesting after the one match I didn't immediately freeze crash in are 17 hits with a Small Laser for only 19 damage. Considering only 0.75s lasing duration for this weapon it makes me wonder how I managed only 19 out of 51 theoretical damage...

That's not a fact, that's just a misperception on your part. What you saw was lag.

You can fire em at too long a range. some can hit buildings, terrain etc.

Nice. Did you use a crystal ball to determine what I saw?

No, I just went with the favorable interpretation. You might also simply have been drunk. xD

Streaks have been quite reasonable for a while now, but the netcode issues were making it look like they were doing impossible things, me and a friend of mine both have sub 50 pings, and didnt really understand the fuss until we saw video of how they behave for anyone with ping over 100.

Well, I'm a heavy streak user and I can assure you that streaks do not fly through other mechs without exploding. You can even team-kill with streaks. :)

So they would hit 100% due to lag, but since HSR they can miss now? Seems to me it would have gone the other way around.

Yeah I've seen that. I would purposely put a enemy between myself and the SSRM'er. I'm referring to my own SSRM clipping through myself to hit intended target. But you may be right, since I don't use them often.

Not so sure about the clipping through yourself issue either, but not 100%. There were reports about players blowing themselves up with SRMs when there was this bug which would launch them at odd angles, weren't there?

Haha. I'd loved to have seen someone blow themselves with SSRM. Guess I missed my chance with the new improved netcode.

I think it was the crytek packet dropping issue causing the server to ignore trajectory data that would result in premature collisions with terrain or other obstacles. its been more tthen a month since streaks went around buildings, now they actually explode when they hit a building instead of going through it.

I'm not talking about lack of building collision. I haven't seen that since early December. I'm talking about it clipping through the shooter in order to score hits from behind.

Laser hit numbers are pretty worthless. As long as you targeted an enemy mech at any point during the beam, you count as hitting. It does almost no damage though.

So if you want to look at laser accuracy take your total shots fired divided by damage. That's more meaningful.

Yeah, a lot of the stats need interpretation. LRMs <<<< SRMs. Until you figure that LRMs are at 4x the range and don't need LoS. A machine gun might do a bazillion dmg, but you have to be kissing the enemy mech and his armor all gone.

My dmg / fired goes something like:

AC/20
--[HUGE GAP]
ERPPC - Large Lasers (almost same)
PPC (probably cuz of min range)
--[gap]
Medium Lasers
--[gap]
SSRM
--[gap]
SRM
--[gap]
LRM

By far my most efficient weapon is the AC/20. Not sure if it's cuz I'm taking extra super special care shooting it. But LL and ERPPCs are coming about the same. Probably also because I'm taking more potshots at stuff with PPC.
