AMS needs to be at least twice as good as it is now, I will say that much.

Boating LRMs is the biggest "I win" button in this game next to splatcats. An AMS system can take out ~4-5 missiles a volley and don't act as one entity (When you are grouped together they often will shoot for the same missile). The ECM was a crappy bandaid that PGI used to cover the fact that LRMs in their current form are OP. Lets say I'm frolicking through the battlefield in my 54Km/h Phract 4x. Sticking to (4) other teammates to increase our AMS effectiveness (Lets say we dropped without an ECM as it happens quite often) Our AMS systems will take down 3/4 of ONE Lrm 20 volley on a good day. Well most sane LRM boats take more than 1 LRM 20. Crossing some sort of open terrain is inevitable on every map, and running to cover at 54Km/h isn't always possible. ECM totally negates LRMs and that shouldn't be the case. It makes LRMs an unreliable weapon system, relying completely on the fact that the opposing team doesn't have an ECM in their midst.

In a match I had a few days ago, our teams drop on caustic had no ECM. The other team had 2 LRM boat stalkers. Both stalkers had damage in the thousands by the end of the match.

TL:DR- This isn't LRM/ECM warrior online LRMs, AMS, and ECM should be reworked.

LRMs are OP and should be reworked (I.E. lower damage, Faster flight time, etc...)

AMS needs to be a more effective "soft" counter. (requires careful adjustments as it could become the next ECM)

ECM is OP needs to be reworked (that's a whole other topic)

And please please stop telling me that I gotta take cover, use a fast mech and whatsoever!

Cover is not always where I would like to have it and scouts get ***** by LRMs, I am well aware of tactics and different options presented by the layout of a map.

So the only way to actually avoid LRMs is EMC (which is rediculous cause I would never play in a non EMC Mech as OP as they are right now) , so I went for an EMC missle boat and am just doin fine.

Sorry but the maps are literally covered with cover.

80% of my LRM kills are my target's fault.

On the other side of that coin if I'm not in my LRM cat I'm in my brawler atlas that has 300m weapons range and i have zero issues with LRMS.

No.

Seriously, no.

Boating LRMs is the easiest way to destroy bad players. Yes. But against good players, boating LRMs is the easiest way to nerf your team, because good enemies will know to avoid exposing themselves to LRMs, or will send a light mech to completely shut down the LRM boat.

For the sake of all that is holy, people should NOT boat LRMs. It's a complete crap-shoot, if you go up against good enemies you are hobbling your team, and if you go up against bad players you will dominate the field.... BUT THEN AGAIN, if you're going against bad players you don't need the LRM boat in the first place. So, in short, against the sort of enemies that require the greatest advantage, you are gimping your team. Don't boat LRMs.

The best LRM build is a balanced one, like the usual stock LRM builds. Keep a good amount of direct firepower for when your LRMs are useless. And that doesn't mean keeping 4 MLs on your 3xLRM20 stalker, leave that to the stock catapults. Stick to 2 LRM15s, and pack on some PPCs for crying out loud. Maybe some SRMs for close up work. Heck, even the catapults should try something heavier when using all the ugrades (I've got 2 PPCs in my C1, and 25 LRMs tubes).

Just about the only "boat" I think is good is the Trebuchet, mostly because that little guy can move like a rabid squirrel. Maybe.

But either way, LRMs are not, in any way shape or form, an "I win" button. They tear about players who let themselves get torn apart by LRMs... but the same applies to any other weapon.

Why do people feel like they're entitled to systems that makes LRMs less useful?

Where's my Anti-PPC System? I hate looking over a hill and eating 2X PPC shots.
Where's my Anti-Laser System? I hate rounding a corner to eat a 9X MLas Alpha to the face.

Just be glad that there's something in place that takes out even 1% of LRMs fired at you, because there's no such thing for any other weapon system in MWO.

I enjoy fighting LRM boats, makes me have 1000% more fun in my jenner doing xXx1337HaXM1GS7Y13JJ360N05C0P3xXx and dodging 80-90% of them in an open field. Tracking is a bit intense compared to what it used to be, feels a bit more like streaks at close range sometimes than LRMs. But I can't complain, I am glad they do damage now, they are feared as they should be. Maybe teach people how to use cover like closed beta did for so many of us. ECM is easy mode for dodging LRMs and it has made the community soft.

Edit: Anti PPC and Anti Laser system is called reflective armor. Anti AC20 and gauss to the face is refractive armor. It will be implemented eventually.
