Some MechWarriors want to fight. Not capture the red squares. Make Team Deathmatch the next game mode.

No capping.

If a light 'Mech wants to run away for 15 minutes, that's fine.

Ideally, 'Mechs would have the option to 'retreat' by returning to their spawn point and shutting down within the 'retreat' square.

PS: Weight limits. 50-80T per person, weight trading acceptable (I take a commando [-20T], someone else can take a Cataphract [+20])

Yes. Just yes. Many people want a gamemode with no capping. They don't have one.

Someone will QQ because the other guy in his faster mech ran away and hid. If you think the Assault whines about capping are bad... just wait until this is actually deployed.

Voted no/explanation to follow.

Though TDM should be in the works I would much rather see an asymmetric wave assault game mode on a map the size of Alpine first.

Before I will vote I wish to know what the OP believes would be the purpose of team death match in planet capture?

would it be scouting the planet before an invasion?
ahilation of enemy forces on the planet?
or there doesnt have to be a purpose I just want it?
or some other option that I havent listed?

Team death match is effectively team Solaris.

Solaris has been said will be included in MWO, but current time-frame is about 18 months away.

The reason I said no, is because death match wont work on standard maps. There will be situations where players in light mechs simply run off or shut down concealed somewhere. Death match will honestly only work well in a structured area, such as Solaris will offer. If we were the clans that would be another matter, but also running away and cowering would be the same as death to them.

When Solaris is added to MWO I hope to see various options such as classic 'last mech standing' for each weight class, open class where you can take everything from a 25-100t mech and of course team play 2 vs. 2 in a defined weight bracket, 4 vs. 4 and maybe (although could be cramped given the area of most Solaris arena's is fairly small) 8 vs. 8, all in different weight brackets or open. It should be a fun way to spend a few hours battling that season for fame and glory in the arenas.

Voted no, for one reason: I believe community warfare should be a higher priority than cookie-cutter game modes.

TDM will add nothing to the CW thats coming, teams will need to be agile in skills and in tactics... TDM dumbs things down to much IMHO/

The purpose of the game mode is to simulate two opposing forces encountering each other in a strategically interesting bit of terrain and attempting to force one force to retreat or be destroyed.

No capping. Just 'Mech combat.

I'm ok with that. If you don't want to deal with that behavior, play another game mode.

There are hundreds of square meters that have never seen a 'Mech on them because of the static positions of the bases.

Team Deathmatch allows players to use the entire map. Use the map to their advantage. Now, we only have 2 parts of the map that see action.

Boring, repetitive tactics ensue.

EDIT: Poll updated to include reasons given by respondents.

I dont care if they dont update the game for another year if they implement TDM tomorrow. TDM with a timer, when the time runs out team with most living mechs wins. This is day 1 closed beta ****.

How about someone comes with some an awesome mechanic that deals with those that feel like running away is the best option?

That would better address this issue (and more likely to get this implemented) because that is what we've come down to.

My suggestion is that the last player in a TD match to die, gets a "survivor bonus".. that their death is rewarded because they chose to fight it out to the death.

This bonus is scaled to the amount of damage dealt by the last player in that match. The more damage that was put out over the course of the match, the greater the bonus.

No XP/c-bills bonus would be applied to the losing team (or perhaps a small deduction) for the player that chooses the "lame way" out.

That's the best I could come up with.

You need another choice in your answers: Remove Cap from Assault to make Assault Team Death Match

As I have stated in the numerous threads about TDM, if you'd just remove CAP from Assault then you'd have Team Death Match.

There is no need to have a tonage limit if the machemaker deals with it. You just get the mech you wanna use and th machmaker will put you in a room accordingly.

Also i want respowns like MW4

Well... it seems from this poll and my poll that there are more players that want TDM than dont want it.

In fact its about a 2 to 1 ratio.

Hey insanity.... do you remember that one time on tumbleweed.....

Yes but they wont do that. Some players like assault mode(though I have no idea why and I think they are all morons...) PGI wont do it.
