Yeah free to pay games is bad. Its a business model that is made to screw the customers 100% You may say that its so fine to get free games but I don't want free games. I am fine with paying for a game and get a quality product.

Now you may say that I can just pay for stuff in a free to pay game and so nothing has changed, but it has. You have to pay 10x as much as you did before for the same content + need to stay online for games that should never need it. Like the new sim-city. Or greed-city is more like it.

It is rather close to digital scamming.

The worst of this is when you cannot really buy anything but rent it for a limited time. That is not close to digital scamming. It is digital scamming.

Or gambling. Get mystery box and get 0,05 % change for a fat price or 99% chance of junk. Look at Guild wars 2 for that kind of ****.

I don't play Guild Wars 2 any more.

Gambling is illegal in several EU states so hopefully that will kill the digital scam gambling because there is no difference between digital and real-life gambling. Its just that nobody has addressed it yet.

Its bad to downtalk people on boards but I have to say that I consider people that like f2p
mentally ill.

So one can't like the pricing structure and enjoy a game? I know I didn't care for the price of the anniversary edition of Scrabble but I enjoy the crap out of the game.

Also, don't play any game where there is a slight chance of items dropping in a game. I can only imagine the rage you would have playing Borderlands(2) where it's an item hunt. The entire game. One you paid for and isn't f2p. That's just one example.

Umm... why are you here?

And f2p is great if done well. They generally have a much longer life expectancy than a buy once game where the devs abandon the product after initial sales. But if done badly... well, you just avoid them.

I am not here because of the crappy business model. That is for sure. This is a promising game for other reasons.

Name one game that is better because its free to pay and not a normal game. The part of much longer life is not true. Just look at Starsiege Tribes. It did not last forever because it was free to play but because it was a damn good game.

Free to pay games also attracts all the children and cheaters.

As much as us "old timers" long to hold 12 floppies, a physical manual and a code wheel again... those days are long gone and will never return...

Right, wrong or indifferent F2P is here to stay for no other reason than it's a highly lucrative development/revenue stream.

Seriously.... Why put up huge capital up-front for development of a single-purchase product (for a one-time purchase price and no guarantee of net return when you can develop on the fly, provide content over time and receive net profit over the course of the product development time... essentially netting much, much more profit than the single purchase would ever accomplish?

Anyone who thinks games are developed and published for any other reason other than profit needs to put their shoes back on, stow the picket sign and and hide the weed... :D

Really? So not only are you a bigot but you are narrow minded. Mental illness is not an insult, it is an affliction.

i dont mind F2P depending how its implemented but its most often implemented greedly.

its hard to describe but basicly if i put the $$ into a game that is equal to what id buy that game for i should get EVERYTHING, with minor exceptions.

thats the huge problem with F2P models on most games, its being used as nothing more then a way to gouge consumers
I mean i love valve and all but $2.50 for a one use item to open a "mystery box" that can very likely have crap in it lol.
its just a sign of the horrible ramp up of corporate greed (if the model is used poorly) (and they still have yet to give us Half Life 2 Episode 3....)

while im not a fan of the cost of some items in MWO they arent doing it badly essentialy the only thigns you HAVE to buy are mech bays everything else you can earn thru time spent.
Which to anyone reading this (i pitched a b'ch myself a few days ago) i learned it goes ALOT faster if your piloting a decent mech that you enjoy playing and you do well (alot of assists/damage/kills)
current improvement needed is to let training grounds be able to "test" builds for free if you spend a long time grinding for cash blow it all on a mech and find out it sucks.... :D sad panda time.

but $60 gets you alittle over 30 mech bays (more if you buy MC on a sale day which i havnt seen yet but heard of) earn so in time you fill those up your $60 got you about as many mechs as any previous Mechwarrior title.

unfortunatly people for some reason pay the insane prices, either because of stupidity, no concept of value of money, or they so desperatly need SOMETHING in their lives that virtual items some how fills and there are enough fo them that companies get by with ripping people off so it wont stop even though they would make ALOT more with more reasonable pricing.

again no bashing on MWO, i might rant come "live" if prices feel annoying but time will tell.

Yes I do think there is something wrong with the brains of someone that prefer the free to pay model vs how it was done before.
I could probably word it differently but there you go.

Then in the future, pick your insults better. It's called personal choice, and thank goodness we have it. The world would be very sad indeed, if we all thought like you sir.

You don't have to like free to pay because you like to play this game. I don't regret "kickstarting" this game either. Not yet.
The free to pay aspect of this game is not of the worst you can find. Its actually rather light and before the consumables and all that jazz it was not even annoying. I have not stopped spending cash on this game not because it feels like scamming but because of the lack of content.

Even world of tanks has a worse model than this game. Gw2 is a good example when a game crosses the border from "game" to "scam"

But what morons think that a game get better by being free to pay than being a normal premium game? They don't because free to pay mostly depends on some ******** grind.

This game would have been much better if you just got everything and could focus on having fun. If you play games because you can grind them, seek help and maybe try to get a job.
