This isn't an investment, I'm not expecting a return. It's purely for enjoyment/entertainment, and to me, putting the money in when the game is most enjoyable makes it worthwhile to me.
I don't expect the game to evolve as only I see fit because I've spent money, my opinions and priorities for how the game should be are to be treated no different than a free players. I don't pay because I think I'll be more important, or have a louder voice. I pay because I want to, because I enjoy the game, because I want to support the developers.
The game I've spent the most money on is Path of Exile, which I spent $1,000 on to be a Diamond Supporter.

I prefer to wait until the game is more polished and closer to a finished product.
Don't take that as me saying I don't like the game, I love the game and play as often as my job, wife, and children allow. I just prefer to see what else they come out with before I spend my hard earned money.
So far I've spent $60 on this game. I did it because I've been waiting for many years for somebody to revive the MW franchise and I thought it would be cool to get in to closed beta. It took me about two weeks to feel like I got my money's worth. If PGI went bankrupt today and shut down the servers I would not feel like I wasted my money. I'd be very disapointed though.

I have not been able to train in fighting for 4 months (Starting again next week thankfully) due to some built up injuries. I spend $145.00 a month to get my *** kicked and people think thats crazy. So throwing 15-30 a month on here isnt crap. Hell a few of you probably smoke or drink a bunch and thats known to kill you to and Im sure your spending twice as much on that form of entertainment (Cough Real Consumables) as i do on MWO, yet you think its insane for a game.

I added up the cost, including Founders and it is close to $1000 dollars.
And no, I don't regret it, and yes,
I still think that this game is NOT P2W...In fact I am living proof you cannot buy a win or a kill in this game. Skill counts!
As I read the posts of people in here, I see that I am either not very demanding or just plain stupid (my wife votes the later)

I forget where the article was, but they're working on a Battletech turn based browser game and a MOBA. They used founders money to help keep those projects going instead of hiring new developers for MWO.

Oddly enough I have barely spent any MC compared to some here it seems. I guess I'm just indecisive and frugal because otherwise I do like the game.

I still have around 6300MC left.
I want more things that will eventually require more payments - like XP conversions - but I won't buy more MC as is. I paid 60 dollars for MWO, and I'm getting my money's worth.
When CW comes out, and this turns into a game worth 6.95 a month, then I'll start buying MC. Right now I can't support it.
I don't feel bad - I did my part. Plenty of people here didn't buy in anything and play more than I do.

Roadhouse Interactive is not PGI. Its called Mechwarrior Tactics. Funny my name is all about misinformation, yet here you are giving others who do little research something to flame about that's false. Do you work for HAWKEN?

I've bought 0 MC and have spent 0 of my founders MC. If I come across anything I think is worth it, I guess I would spend it, but I have absolutely no intention of spending any more on this game. Part of that is I'm just cheap, other is I don't think it's worth it anymore. Also I just try to not support microtransactions as much as possible, as they are definitely ruining games.

That may be good for the company in the short term, but it's bad for the customer and that's bad for the company long term.
I have plenty of money and I'm not shy supporting things I like, but that doesn't mean I want to support a product I'm not interested in.
I actually was really excited for a turn based Battletech game like MegaMek with a nice client, the details killed it for me though. Random items and mechs, browser client, bleah.

The cash cost is offset by the amount of actual non-grind entertainment time I get, spending £20 on something I'll spend 100's of hours enjoying seems like a bargain compared to a few drinks or couple of trips to the cinema it'd buy otherwise.
Also doesn't hurt to support the people working to improve this game...if only they'd bring out some more awesome hero mechs hint hint ££$$££$$

IGP Is a friggin PUBLISHER! Do you know what that means. Holy crap really. Do you read books? Guess what a "Publisher" doesn't generally put all their money on one author. PGI is developing the the game and IGP is funding it. That means they get a cut and can do whatever they want with "Their" money.
