I hate this map... Anyone else notice how if youre in the water there are any number of objects down there that (while seethrough) intercept weapons fire?
All the bugs like this make me thouroughly despise this map.

Anyone else seeing this annoying crap?

I like it...but I have always loved city maps. As for the bugs...my only real gripe with this map is the way the map boundary pinches in WAY too far near the Kappa capture zone. It is almost impossible to walk around that building without going out of bounds.

I havn't noticed these invisible obstacles, but I'm not a great shot anyway so it's no suprise to me when my shots don't always connect. I did get stuck on one of the bridges once and couldn't move for the rest of the game, that was annoying, havn't been on that bridge since.

I hate the night version, daytime is ok though.

Oh i just love how some mechs can make it to the others base in less than 10 seconds.

Yeah there are some wonky hitboxes on those pillars. You gotta use your lasers to even figure out what you can fit a ballistic round through.

I don't mind RC day, there are a couple of odd spots in it, but nothing they can't fix up. It's RC night that drives me nuts, mostly because the vision modes are so terrible right now. Aside from just not looking that great, thermal tends to drop my fps below playable levels. For whatever reason, night vision turns certain surfaces into blinding white lights; you look at a building without night vision, no lights whatsoever, then turn on night vision, and suddenly its completely washed out with bright white.

I was dissapointed at first as was hoping for a real urban map, as in huge skyscrapers, canyon like streets etc. It never grew on me, did not hate it but it was just.. meh. The night version was annoying due to the crappy night vision mode (but that is now being improved for next months patch) but after new map stats introduced I had a 6 - 0 winning streak on it which of course improved my opinion of it ;) . Did not last of course, down to 8 - 4 now :P

I call it River sh!tty. I hate that map and I get it more than any of the rest of them. Between the dualing tactics (go high or go low) and the ability to snipe from base to base...its the most ******** map in the game.

Day is okay but im not a fan of night given current quality of night vision and thermal, the bugs are annoying but thats why they have a beta to find stuff like this.

I thought it was a beta to scream at people who find bugs or dont like the game the way it is that this is beta and they should accept it

I am a resident of River City, I must be. Out of 20 drops, it puts me there 15, day or night. I think the blinding white of night vision is your battlemech's ,(invisible), IR headlights reflecting. Reminds me of wearing NVGs and turning on the IR assist.

Never use to be this way, the boundary use to be at the top of the hill. I think they changed it when they added conquest.

Yeah...I think they moved it down to keep LRM spammers from sitting on top of that hill...but it is a bit too far now, IMHO.

I'm sure they'll release another city map. Probably be one that's on a map size like Alpine Peaks with NO river. All city, maybe some hills. Suddenly jump jets and scouts will be seriously useful. Long streets but lots of side streets with smaller firing zones, making snipers and brawlers deadly. I like the city maps. *laughs* Only thing I don't like about River City is well....the river. I could even see a full on city with possibly multiple levels, semi akin to Star Wars' Coruscant. However, not quite that big, but maybe like a skyway and a groundway. Or elevated trainways like Chicago, perhaps heavies and assaults couldn't get up there but lights and mediums could. That'd be amusing, long winding streets and then have to worry also about what's above (or below), bring another dimension to the fighting.

But alas, for my dreams, this is about River City. As for the hidden objects, never noticed that. Though I did find it annoying when I was under the 'dock' area in the water over near Theta and LRM's were pouring through the roof above my mech instead of hitting the pavement above me. I've noticed firing into the actual water is almost pointless, to go after legs. However, overall, those are small gripes in comparison to how I like the rest of the map. I even like the night version and with the night and thermal modes coming, it'll make this all the more fun.

One thing to note about my tastes. Look at some of my favorite mechs: Valkyrie (JJ), Scarabus, Mantis, Axman, Nightsky, Hatchetman, Berserker (notice a trend there...) Didn't bother with 3058 mechs and beyond, think you can get my trend.

I've died at least twice recently because of that boundary.

I really hate getting stuck on objects, and all the odd fences in River City are annoying as hell. I'm in a giant mech, why can't I step over the bumpers on the sides of the roads.
