Why Do We Need To Do Math To Count Mechs?

I did a search on this and didn't see anything, so here is my suggestion.

In assault matches the hud counter shows how many mechs your team has killed. Why can't it just show the number of mechs remaining of each side instead of having us do math in the middle of a battle? If it shows a 5 in the blue box and a 2 in the red box you would know instantly that there are 5 friendlies left and 2 enemies left. Instead, we have to look at the 5 in the blue box and then subtract that from 8 to determine that there are 3 enemies left, and subtract the red 2 from 8 to know there are 6 friendlies.

This is so counter-intuitive as to be pointless. Yes it is simple math, but it adds to pilot workload and to me is just plain annoying. In the far future that the mechwarrior universe is in I would have thought they would have the on-board supercomputer do the math and present the pertinent data to a pilot.

Also can we have a mech counter added to the conquest mode also? After all, mech destruction is a victory condition.

Well, at the moment, players are omniscient. They know each side has 8 players, so the formula you've stated up above works.

What if you DIDN'T know how many enemies you were facing (such as in real life combat)? What would a "supercomputer" do then? Well, it would probably show you the only known variable... kill count.

Once they introduce Asymetric combat with unknown totals then have it just tally killcount during an asymetric battle. As it stands though, with the current system of selecting their type of combat you want to engage in, having the HUD report actual numbers shouldn't be an issue. Regardless of the method of determining whats left on the battle field, the blue side should always be accurate and available at a glance without having to figure anything out.

Then why have the HUD counters in the first place?

Math is your problem? Oh boy. Let's not get into FF or Endo. That would blow your mind.
