We already know that LRMs are OP. They have been OP for 6 months. ECM just covered up the problem with a bandaid.

According to stats, I'm an average player at best. My "main" is a 4SP Hunchie without AMS and LRM's are probably the weapon I fear the least. They are not OP, unless I am (and a K/D of .8 and W/L even lower suggests otherwise.)

If LRM's seem powerful on a map you play, then ur teammates or the enemy didn't know how to use cover. They are indirect fire weapons which means you can get behind cover, you are notified when they are headed your way, and if out of line of sight long enough they lose lock. They are certainly not unbeatable. Mechs that are mainly missile boats use a lot of tonnage on ammo and still can run out, and run hot, and usually have minimal defensive weapons for a mech that gets within 180m. Missiles may be easy to use, but they are not overpowered.

To be fair, in Hawks' game the other team still managed to kill everyone on his team except for him and a single Commando, despite his supposedly withering rain of LRMs. To me it actually looks like quite a close match that they could perhaps even have won had they been able to get just one medium within 180 m of the LRM boat.

Actually they did manage to get an Assault within 180m...but it was a PPC Stalker, it overheated and Charger in the Commando killed it

your cries fall on deaf ears. Theres no balance director at PGI. if there were the artemis changes thomas made would have been reviewed for balance. if there were a balance director a lot of balance changes would have been made, missile systems would have been overhauled as well as ECM.

They would have come up with a fix for MGs ... I mean its hilarious that all they did after 6+ months was this completely useless crit buff.

@OP: The Stalker is the most broken mech to start with. It's barely larger than a CAT and IMHO the side torso hit boxes are way too large. I usually have a good aim, but no matter how hard I try to core the CT I keep hitting the side torsos when shooting at Stalkers.

Even I can do well with them, and I basically suck - ask anyone.

Yes, LRM's are good against a team that has zero ecm, as that one.
The flip side is that if they had any ECM mechs, you would have been useless.

If you are out in the open, it should punish you. I don't play with LRM's, nor have i been killed by any LRM's in weeks, so i cant say one way or the other if LRM's are OP or not. Regardless, i have always been afraid of LRM's to the point that its made me a overall better player, i stay in cover pretty much all game, and it has helped considerably not just with combating LRMs, but getting around gauss and PPC boats.

Empirical evidence clearly demonstrates that generalists and inferior to specialists. The only time this is ever true, ever, is when MM rolls you too many of the same kind of specialist and the enemy capitalizes.

See: Dragon (all variants) vs. Boats and brawlers.

I'll happily argue this any time. My Flame sports an LRM10, 2 Large Lasers, and 2 Medium Lasers, at 105kph.

Brawler? I stay long. LRM boat? Inside 180. Light? I'll see my armor and 4 lasers vs. silly streaks any day, and with a 350 engine it's a piece of cake to hold a bead on a 150kph light. Most importantly, all my weapons are usable from 180-~450m, and I can bring most to bear either very close (leave out the LRM's) or long (leave out the ML's). And up close, in a 100kph brawl, it's very easy to spin wide and get the needed 180m, particularly when if relative vectors are good you can hit and damage firing from ~150m. All with easily enough speed to disengage from someone who's just too hard to take head on.

You can play rock paper scissors, or you can roll a decent generalist build and take on everyone. The key is to engage at the range band that most benefits you. When you're faster than your opponent, this is entirely manageable.

So let me get this right the cry baby whiners about 3Ls for so long jump on the bandwagon the 3Ls get a fix where they are easier to kill now it is all LRMs faults...

Now look at this pic that was taken a while back in a STK 5S and tell me why all the sudden they are OP I have been using them foir a very very long time it is nothing new.Posted Image

Yep I agree sooo overpowered compared to my large laser

LRM 20
Matches: 29
Fired: 10,620
Hit: 2,917
Accuracy: 27.47%
Damage: 5,161

LARGE LASER
Matches: 29
Fired: 826
Hit: 653
Accuracy: 79.06%
Damage: 3,487

See, if you compared an LRM20 to TWO large lasers you'd be much more accurate, as the LRM is ten tons and four crit slots (not including heat sinks/ammo) and the laser is 5 tons two crits (not including heat sinks). Let's do that.

Hmm damn, large laser's lookin' pretty good.

By that logic, SRMs and Medium lasers are OP? I will say ... LRMs do seem a bit over the top these days ... but the result of one game does not an epidemic make.

EDIT: This was with two SRM-6, and 2 Medium lasers. Not LRMs, and not a Splat, not a Raven (or anything else with ECM) and not a pop-sniper.

I did 1500 damage in a match with 4 medium lasers and 2 streaks in my founders catapult nerf med lasers and nerf streaks then. If they were this stupid high constantly across multiple matches then yes you may have an agrument. But posting one of your better matches and then making a complaint is bogus.

You had a good match grats. Chances are you were basically uninteruppted and had the majority of the team going either in a blob or nearly single file and you had them at a flank. You took advantage. Bravo. Your position was as an important factor as your choice of weapons.

My highest score has been 180 with LRM. They aren't OP -- people just assume they stand stand in the rain without a care.

Exactly! When I first started my Trebuchet adventure, I had no medium experience and no LRM experience, hence my Elo score was pretty low. I ran pretty much the stock build, LRM15 + ML, and was mopping the floor, 3 or 4 kills, 500-700 damage. Now my Elo has caught up and I work really hard for 300 damage and 1 or 2 kills unless my PUG team is really coordinated. Seriously people, don't stand still and out in the open and LRM's aren't a huge threat!!! Sure they keep you from moving forward, but eventually you will find a way around or they will eventually run out of ammo. Pretty simple. I occasionally die from LRM's, not because they are OP, but because I am impatient or too narrowly focused on my prey.

LRM's are broken because people can break 1K a game
SRM's are broken because people can break 1K a game
PPC's are broken because people can break 1K a game
LL's are broken because people can break 1K a game

All weapons can be OP against mechs not set up to counter or poorly played opponents.

4MG's mounted on a light that is used to finish off mechs with exposed armor works very well with the current ruleset. I tested it out with a spider and it works very well.

ITT, OP's transparent attempt to stroke his e-peen is instead taken by many people to be a genuine attempt to debate the merits of a weapon system...

If i'd wanted to do that, I would have Photoshopped it to look like I'd done it in a Spider.

quick solution.

get within 180m where they do 0.0 damage. even standard PPC are not limited that hard.

if you think LRM is broken take a mech with only LRM. <-they are tasty.
