Dont Increase Armour, Change Weapon Cooldown.

Now to me this makes perfect sense and can help balance Mech builds and Mech weapon loadouts while bringing a sense of scale to the weapon groups.
I put my own spin on this Idea as well, If we break the weapon groups into:
Heavy.
PPCs + (ER)
Large Lazers (ER + Pulse)
Gauss
AC20
Heavy weapons take the whole 10 secconds to recharge.
Medium Heavy.
LRMs
SRMs (Streaks included)
LBX10
AC10
Medium Heavy weapons take 7.5 secconds to recharge.
Standard.
AC5
UAC5
AC2
Medium Lazer (Pulse)
Small Lazer (Pulse)
The Standard weapons take their usual times to rechage.
This I reckon could stop people boating the Heavy - Medium Heavy weapons as much... An SRM/LRM boat, PPC boat, LLazer boat, Guass boat etc.. Wouldn't be as scary if the took between 7.5 secs to 10 secs to reload. People would stop boating and the weapon loadouts would start to look a little bit more normal and balanced.
Obviously the thing that would need adjusting afterwards would be the heat factor for the weapons but I'm no programmer just an Ideas man...
What do you think?

There's no tactics in taking 10 seconds between shots. There's more tactics in CoD than this game right now, anyway. Positioning plays a bigger part, too.

Logical
And Vassago, the reason there is no Tactics in the game is because of the way that weapons work. At the moment every build capable of running heavy weapons does and brawls. Without the correct cooldown times there is nothing stopping crazy builds that break the intended role of the mechs and this makes the game stale and boring. This game could be a tactical teamwork masterpiece.

Edit: this would also be a pretty significant buff to pop-tarts.

telling people you will get shocked if you stick a body part into an electrical outlet is logical, but ... yah...
*also: would love to see where you get the 4 PPC cat though....to actually get it running that is. *
but fine, lets play your game:
my jenner goes 130 km/hr with full armour and a PPC
you in an atlas, your transverse cant beat mine.
even if you gimp yourself with say, all light weapons. you still have very tiny windows (both literally and figuratively speaking, also, in your game, the reload for those weapons are slow) to hit me while I am hitting your huge butt every 10 secounds while darting in and out of your firing arcs. you find a wall to back into, I jump above you and wait for you to come out... or shoot you while I am in the air above your torso arc *so only 2 arm weapons.
did I mention I have full armour?
it would be a very boring game.
edit:
and god forbit I switch to an ECM raven lol....

If you are decreasing the rate of fire, you should decrease the same value for all weapons.
And why the heck making the larger guns shoot slower than the smaller ones? Large weapons are not OP and are already balanced by their weight and critical size. The problem is in the smaller weapons, which you can boat - making the mech much more efficient
I guess you are a Catapult A1 and Hunchback 4P player.... (cheesy!)

Feel bad... Urm... Nope, its a shame some people can be scared of an Idea or change.
Armour values probably are ok, Im more inclined to believe we could loose some to be fair but thats just me..
And thanks for the compliment, Im 28
Ok so the Quad PPC cat might have just been picked outta the air as an example Woohoo! Could have said HexaPPC Stalker.. Yes I've had one it works...
Then on to the last... If I was in my Atlas I'd imagine that my favourite lancemates would be beside me pulverising your light mechs legs into the dust. Just saying...

see the problem?
(well, unless you like duels that last 30 minutes...)
if you want tactical
make PGI give us something meaningful to fight over on large maps.
at this point, MWO is yah.... they didnt even make conquest mode that appealing to most.
idea one for tactics: give us artillary installation that we can capture to bomb other team. ... or destroy to remove it.
you know, mechcommander stuff.
*I love that game.

I've never played the TT and have only read the first 5 books.
Still think the Initial Idea is a good one..
To be fair Tong you are right on the map front... I don't really play Conquest anymore as its pants.
And to Odanan the Idea is some people think the games end too quick they want to quaddruple the armour!?
I think changing the Heavier weapons cooldown to be more realistic, would be the way to go as fighting with smaller weapons would take longer overall to destroy a mech and the feeling of bringing a Big weapon to bear would be more rewarding in the long run.
But all of that is only my opinion and what I'd like to see instead of increasing the armour size.

thats why increased armor makes more sense
theres ways of increasing armor while keeping weapons like the AC/20 scary. just give them armor penetration or something like that.

I find that hard to believe.
When it comes to your usual FPS game, they are godawfully slow.
When it comes to Mechwarrior, this thread proves that at least one person likes a slow shooter.
When it comes to ex-fast shooters, most people seem to be fine with the Tribes:snail edition that is T:A.

You die in about 30 seconds in this game. Brawling's dangerous.
