Since the patch I feel like I'm getting killed by snipers a lot more frequently with shots to the head. This isn't me complaining about snipers per se (although they're annoying) but more me wondering if this is due to the patch or people using hacks. Just to see what was out there I went looking for aimbots, and yeah, they're easy to find.

So I guess my real question is this: Is there aimbot detection in this game? Are other people noticing an increase in deaths due to headshots?

Not bragging or anything but I love building mechs just to do Headshots. Back in the day when I played UT, I would get banned from servers because they thought I was cheating... apparently, skill is cheating. Eh well...

Not sure about cheating in this game (it probably exists somehow) and not sure why anyone would want too. I would think it would take the thrill out of it, but that's me I guess.

If someone is getting headshot more it has to be hax.

Could be more people are using the training grounds to find where the cockpit is on mechs. I know I was surprised on the location of some of them.

it's because of HSR. Not only the lights were protected by lagshield but all the cockpits of every bigger mech was protected by lagshield too. So we're not only enjoying easier to hit light mechs but also easier to hit cockpits ;)

Tips:

Do not move in a straight line.
Use free look and twist your torso.
Use cover and flanking moves.
Do not under any circumstance head straight towards a gauss wielding mech.

patch only gave Llas better aiming via state rewind, the rest of the sniper arsenal has to wait until state rewind P2. Mayhaps you jumped an elo bracket and started copping better opponents? Oh and the training ground giving snipers better access/training to hs aiming at range.

I fear for what the update zoom module is going to bring

Oh the OP was only about ballistics? Sry then. Just saying expect more headshots from Lasers now as I already did with a few cats ;)

The training grounds is nowadays a good way to train headshots and explore the hitboxes.
So probably more people will learn how to headshot mechs

I agree there does seem to be a lot more head shots probably as already discussed, however they are not fun.

If you stand still and look at me or shut down while facing me I will take the extra second or two to try and HUD you...

So far i think i only died twice maybe a bit more from headshots since the game went to open beta, still almost as many times as i died from a headshot in closed beta.

Most of the times it's a lucky hit that drops some armor then some dmg added due splash weapons or dragging lasers mostly than the common shoot to the head from a sniper.

So doubt there is some aimbot working for the head, specially if you know to keep moving and turning to avoid dmg on a fixed section, altought odd things happens sometimes (i think i own the greatest record of AC-20 to the ehad on lights pilots in closer quarters just to waste a shoot i hardly can ever repeat.)

When you drift up to the top elo bracket headshots go from being rare to being a regular thing, so NEVER STAND STILL!!!!

Nothing makes a mech take his weapons off you faster than actively trying to head shot them. If you stand still or hug mechs people are going to go for the cockpit to end the engagement as fast as possible. If you shut down in front of someone? well about the best you can do is shake your mouse and cringe while saying nonononono in the hopes people have a bad aim :D.

Some people won't like this, however here it goes...

Move!

Torso twist while your are going forward or <gasp> juke a little to the left or right with the legs.

Also don't stand still, you're asking for it.

Avoidance of headshots:

Don't pilot a catapult....... ever.

Also don't overheat

That is all.

If you see a Cataphract, Atlas, Catapult, or Stalker and don't know for a fact what weapons it's carrying, don't stare at it. You might be in for nasty surprise.

well in all other games the closer to the top you get the more people hack... sad but true

at the same time OP .....some people are just THAT GOOD!...never just think someone is hacking because of a mostly lucky shot or you're gaming experience will truly suck..

The bonus to having a bad elo is that the snipers where I am at aren't that good. It is so nice.
