The Catapult profile is a GIANT BOX with a HUGE HEAD slot to hit and it tends to have all of its weapons in EXTREMELY OVERSIZED ARMS. The Trebuchet profile is a SLIM STICK MAN from the side, with a NORMAL SIZED HEAD slot that isn't easy to hit and it tends to have its weapons spread across its body and it is faster than the Cat.

So yes, the Trebuchet is infinitely more survivable than a Catapult in combat.

The treb is on the level with the hunchback for ease of one shotting in my catapult. When they turn to shoot me I kill them instantly.
I would rather be fighting a treb in any of my non-catapult mechs than an A1

A "bad" to me is someone who hasn't figured out basic game mechanics for a game and then dies doing little to no good for their team. How does "bad" translate to MWO?

-Can't deal with aimed fire, asks for nerfs on sniper weapons (gauss, ppc) rather than use cover or heat vision to scan ahead

-Can't deal with lrm fire, asks for nerfs on LRM damage and ECM, rather than use cover, ignores the warning that lrm fire is coming, or heat vision to scan head

-Dies too quick in combat, asks for quadrupling of armor (we have double now) rather than use speed (play a faster mech) to avoid fire, torso twists to spread damage around, situational awareness to avoid ambushes, play a slower heavier armed (play a heavier mech) to absorb damage, or stay with the group and focus fire

-Doesn't like to optimize their build and complains about other people using good builds for the current rule set

There are a lot of things in this game that sucks for balance, but its life. If you don't like something, change your gameplay. Eventually some things will get fixed. I dislike hugging with a passion, but hopefully collisions will be back in the game. If I notice an increase in hugging in my bracket, I switch to a SRM Boat OR a PPC/SSRM stalker and I fix the idiots I'm pairing against from doing that.

Most bads seems to want to play a game where the game is set up in a way in which they will last the entire match, ie no focused fire and weapons do jack squat for damage. Sorry, but no one wants to play a game where everyone wins. It's bland. If you notice something you don't like, then pick a better mech to counter it and drive on. If you can't change your tactics you deserve to be rolled. I roll a lot of players and I get rolled myself, however I change tactics to minimize and maximize the pros and cons in my favor.

i like how ur elitest attitude has you using words like "bracket" ..."good builds ie cheese <the proper word>"

bad for me is people who break the game to suit them and hell with the rest... thats bad to me

what ur describing is basically players u consider lower then you... i.e elitest....

sorry it not working brah

You are playing a competitive FPS shooter game, people who ignore game mechanics, are a major hindrance to their teams and ask for the game to be changed to be easier are called "bads" I've seen plenty of newbies who in their first match can outplay guys who have 1,000 games under their belts. Its not that the guys are *lucky* their first time, they just understand basic tactics and aiming.

That is my issue with your post. You don't have to ask for the game to be changed to suck. I understand the mechanics just fine, I know how to move and how to aim. I just suck.

I've seen far worse players than you, and I've played alongside you plenty of times. There's a level below yours.

Not even close. I have played against you several times as well, I never got a kill, have not done over 100 damage against you. I usually last less than 2 minutes.

Nice posting etiquette, very non-confrontational and informative on you as a poster.

I'm glad to hear you don't like people being able to build a good mech in the current rule set and how people "break the game" to suit them and "the hell with the rest". All the points listed out are the current Bad posting points. If half of them got implemented you might as well watch MWO slowly decline in membership.

Qaudroupled Armor? Really? Right now 1 PPC = 1 ML, Quadroupled armor would make 1 PPC = 1 SL. People asking for the damage on LRM's to be nerfed, really for the only weapon system with a hard counter AND that gives you 2 to 5 seconds to avoid it. People who don't like other people being allowed to customize their mechs for min/max? There are so many badds posting on their board its hillarious. I'm glad they got a new champion, wear the mantle proud.

No, he's describing people who fail to see patterns in the game.

"Jimmy, the circle does not go in the square opening. No, Jimmy, stop eating the circle!"

When you can transpose these sentences with "LRMs" or "minimum range", then you know you're talking about the badz.

Yes these people are dumb. Almost as dumb as that guy who makes a circle jerk thread to tell everyone how good he is. That's great, you are better than someone at MWO. Go find a female without a mustache that cares and then I will be impressed.

Nice straw man "Almost as dumb as that guy who makes a circle jerk thread to tell everyone how good he is.". Read what I wrote and not what you made up in your mind. I wrote I get rolled just like everyone else. If you have nothing to contribute to the post other than flame bait, please go elsewhere.

I officially stopped giving out advice when we hit open beta. Now I don't have to play against the truly terrible players anymore, either.

Elo turned out to be a good thing.

You see it in all kinds of games though; people who just make the same errors over and over. Its even more painful to watch in games with respawn.

Increasing the armour would only widen the gap in my opinion. Those good players would still be taking far less damage. Plus it would ruin the pacing of combat and make battles uninteresting. You see a lot of new players taking assault mechs and the extra armour doesn't really help them at all.

I would like to think that once there are some real in-game tutorials things will change, but to be honest there are always going to be players who don't really know what they're doing. So long as they are having fun I guess it shouldn't bother me.

If you see poor play, very politely and tactfully suggest an alternate strategy.
ie.
Player 1 (DEAD): "LRMS are so overpowered"
Player 2: "lol bads They have a long flight time; stick near some cover next time and hide when you see the incoming missile warning"
I know it might be amusing or frustrating (depending on whose team they are on) but its in the interests of the game to encourage rather than discourage new players.

We are playing a competitive fps with mechanics and controls that that have been absent for 10 years... A whole decade and generation has passed! Those fps and MMO people who are chatting to you and teaching you these things are the real 'bads'. While you're trying to keep up with the new fad in immature lingo that is intentionally insulting, you have forgotten that BT and MW is a game of honor.

Perhaps you can use this chance to invent another word to describe the people you dislike?

But please, let's try to be courteous to eachother.

I am not flaming, there is no straw man. I will speak plainly. You are being an *******. You are whats wrong with this community. Yes, some people are not as good as you at the video game. That doesn't give you the right to label people as a "bad". Yes, their rantings are preposterous. But so is your thinly veiled attempt to tell everyone how great you are.

One thing I learned, is that when a poster starts making personal attacks, the poster is generally out of words that will be of any use to anyone, especially themselves.

I hate these topics just as much as I hate the "whine with cheese" topics. Fine, we get it, you're a super mechwarrior and I'm not, good for you.

Saying "yuo suck noob uninstall teh game ur opinion sux lawl" (yes, that's what you people sound like) doesn't convince me of your stance and doesn't help me stop sucking. Yes, in theory, boated SRM's are countered with range. That doesn't help me when in frozen city an srm catapult waltzes out at top speed from around a building, crashes into me and shoots an alpha before I can move my torso around.

Yes, in theory LRM's are countered by cover. That doesn't help me when my whole team decides to go into the river in river city, ceding cover and high ground to the enemy. What am I supposed to do at that point huh? Rambo to victory?

TL;DR - I suck at the game, but you're beyond ****** up if you have contempt for bad players.

Dont sweat it mate. The OP is one of these 'bads' he's talking about. Pretty funny really.

Ok, so the problem with the mwo community of most pilots is they do not learn from their mistakes. A lot of these bad pilots we are referring too have played the game since closed beta. And wonder why they still suck, the do things like go in a direction without torso twisting to see for enemies, or dont focus fire down a raven killing their friendly dragon pilot. They have no common sense, thats the problem. Most everyone can hit something within 170m with any weapon, no matter how bad they are. Its them trying to figure in all the other dynamics, like taking cover there, because a sniper is over there, or retreating because they are overwhelmed etc....etc...etc.... the bads are the people with no common sense in this game. They go out there thinking this game is a FPS, this is battletech gentleman, even though we are in the cockpit this is a RTS. View and play it as such, work with your teammates as if this is MechCommander 1 and 2. RTS!
