Would be nice to have every battle recorded to some in-game format, so it's possible to replay it afterwards, and learn from your own mistakes, or from the mistakes of other players. Perhaps, have only the last 3 demos available on each player's profile, to save on server disk space.

To assist learning, would be nice to see in-game log of dmg done (available only inside the demo viewer interface), which shows something like: You hit Player B (Atlas-variant) CT for XX dmg, where CT stands for center torso, for example. Should be possible to turn this log on and off, and have it only apply to the currently selected mech (your viewport).

To keep it simple, if multiple parts of the mech are hit by one shot, don't specify what was hit, and only keep the damage. This is to limit screen clutter, which would otherwise occur from LRM blasts and similar. This could be an option, i.e. if a user wants to have all left side of the screen occupied with text, let them have it so.

Also, free-run/fly spectate mode would be an asset (only inside the demo viewer).

Sounds like a function rarely used, but big potential to lag or crash the system. Isn't installing your own FRAPS better? You can install it and run it when you want without causing the game application to bloat.

Although it won't allow you to have a free fly or spectate mode...

Just 2c worth.

Well I guess because most people have time to spend several hours in game every day. A week or two like that and you probably don't need this feature. FRAPS would not do it, because you cannot view either damage done in real time nor view from other player's viewports, specifically the opposite team. Also no free spectate mode. I don't see how it can lag or crash the system, since it will be just recording game state and compact it to some format. Most 3D shooters have it.

There are no videos on the internet that really teach how to play MWO, except those training videos, which tell the basics. Most just show pwning. Like see how cool I am. So you end up learning by dying. :)

Also, it would allow people to watch guru vs guru matches in all their beauty, which are otherwise pretty limited. This could boost popularity of MWO and potentially drive more people into the game.
