Bug: If you have a grouped lasers (possibly other weapons but more difficulty to verify), they do not always deal as much damage as they're supposed to.
To verify: Go to testing grounds several times in a mech that has grouped lasers. I was using the Hunchback 4P. Find an enemy mech and fire your grouped weapon. Next match, find the identical mech and fire using a single laser. You will find that most of the time, the grouped weapons require more equivalent shots (i.e. a group of 6 lasers will take more than 1 shot to do the same damage as 1 laser fired 6 times). I know this happens in game as well, but it's harder to verify there, and it does not always occur. For instance, in testing grounds I can usually alpha a mech in the head and kill them instantly, but I have had some survive with varying amounts of leftover armor and internal damage (without any other pat of the mech being damaged).
Also, the cataphract is damn near impossible to headshot. None of the cockpit windows actually hit the cockpit, but instead go to the torso.

Grouped Lasers Don't Deliver As Much Damage

Hi, I just tested 4 large lasers and it seems to be registering about the right damage, perhaps it is more noticeable and pronounced with mediums or with more than 4 or a kind?
I heard the 6 ppc stalker sometimes doesn't register the full damage.

Don't forget to count in crits. That can have a big difference.
But I noticed that lasers don't do their damage(or at least seem like they don't) if you heat shut down in the middle of the burn. Maybe they are supposed to shut down with the mech(obviously and makes sense) but the light show continues for its full burn.

Given that the more elite players do this, I think there is merit to this behavior.

I think this has originally been reported with grouped lasers on a trebucket..
and as for the catapracht being impossible to cockpit despite hitting obvious cockpit glass.. Yes it is a bit tough but there is ONE and only ONE WINDOW that counts for head shots -- The center one.. And u have to hit it pretty good and right.. a lil off and u end up hitting CT.. IT''s just really annoying that they didnt include what are OBVIOUSLSY COCKPIT WINDOWS in the head hitbox..
The cockpit shooting gets even more interesting when u start talking mounted weapons.. I've notcied that the lasers mounted and modeled on the head arent included in the head hitbox despite being mounted in the head secton.. These are critable weapons mounted in a location (head) that should take damage accordingly like any other mounted weapon.

In response to the Cataphract cockpit windows:
Its not just about hitting the center window. You have to hit that center window dead center. If you hit the top part of that center window, it registers as a torso hit. Same thing if you hit it on the bottom part also. It has to be dead center. Ridiculous if you ask me... Every other mech that has windows registers a headshot on all windows being shot. The Awesome for example has a center and two side windows. Shooting any of the windows registers a headshot. Something should be done about that. Either take out windows or make the windows a headshot. You dont put windows on a mech for show... Those are viewports for the pilot.

I ran through about 12 different "testing ground" maps with the 4P, and I have my lasers divided into several different groups, one of which has 6. It didn't always happens, but it happened often enough, about one in every 6 mechs. I notice it much more often in game - light mechs that suffer a full burn from all 9 lasers on the same piece still having high levels of armor and such.

This has been happening forever with my 4P hunchback when I fire all 7 small lasers, they do not register the full damage for alpha even on a non-moving mech. I posted about it a few patches ago but nobody belived me.It still isn't fixed for me so I just stopped playing it.

This has been a known issue for quite some time. Firing weapons (any weapons) in groups for some reason has problems scoring full damage.

The last match before I sold my Jenner-F, I had it loaded with 6 Medium lasers (30 Alpha). I snuck up on a stationary enemy raven, Alpha striked them in the back twice before they even started moving, then got into a running battle zapping them on the chase before I got blindsidted by a AC20 Catapult or something and vaporized.
My postmatch Damage: 31 damage.
What. That's only 1 point more than my Alpha strike and I had an unmoving target for two alphas, for starters.
EDIT: This was before the rewind deal was implemented.

There are a lot of issues with grouped weaponry atm it seems. There is still an issue with grouped PPC/ERPPCs not dealing full damage. When a raven/commando/jenner can take a 4/6 PPC/ERPPC strike on CT or LT orRT and only have armour taken to red for that section, something is wrong.
SRMs seem to suffer the same when fire in large salvoes too. Hitting an Atlas at near point blank (60-100M) with 6xSRM6 should be reliably dealing around 90 damage to the affect sections (Plus the splash) . Instead I've seen it barely scratch it, taking sectional armour in the -2- affected areas down to amber.
Then there's the issue of Ballistics. When a dual Gauss shot hits a stationary light, you'd expect something to fall off......nope.
Or Dual AC20's hitting a Rear section of armour and.....bouncing off? or doing so little damage that I could have thrown a rock at it and dealt more.
Or damage being registered on Rear sections when the enemy hit you in the face.....or missiles somehow flying -through- the mech and exploding behind you. Or internals being damaged through armour. Or exploding gauss ammo. Or....
The list is a tad long atm...and has been for a while. Keep testing and maybe they'll get the holes patched eventually. At least they stopped the heatsink explosions.

Once I read that getting more than 100 damage at the same time results in the damage being capped at 100, so everything above will just not be registered.
Perhaps it has something to do with this, I don't know if it ever got fixed.
concerning the lasers, I have some laser boats and will try it tonight for myself. If this is true it explains quite a lot (my 4xSRM6 doing a fraction of what is supposed to do, my 4xER-PPC stalker often doing no dmg at all and so on).
