When chain firing 2 AC/2's, I get the same fire rate as firing them at the same time. There seems to be a time delay before it switches to the other weapon. in reality, I should be able to chain fire the AC/2's at the rate of 4 shots a second, not 2 shots a second.

Is there a way to either change the delay before it moves to the next weapon in the chain, Or an explanation as to why chain firing vs. Non-chain firing of 2 AC/2's has the same fire rate? Or does anyone need me to explain the question better?

Either way, thanks in advance.

The only way I was able to get a decent rate of fire out of 2-3 AC2 was by using a macro. I see a lot of people who try to boat these things and end up with only 2-3 shots/sec.

With only two, you might be able to get autofire by assigning both ACs to group 2, one to group 3, then when you want to fire pressing [3] and immediately after that holding down the right mouse button. If you time it right, the guns will cycle in relatively even intervals.

not all weapons benefit from chain fire the same way.. The only time I've used it was on 4 AC/5s on a Cataphract, the overall rate of fire was pretty good.. but I don't use it on anything else. Too slow and doesn't take into account weapon cooldown, just a hard coded "next.. next.. next.." and it's useless for most things.

I use 2 ac2s with chain fire and still deal good damage, and on the a good plus side is they pretty much never jam.

I was hoping for a .25 second switch between weapons, with a half second cooldown, 4 shots per second....translates to something like a long range machine gun, you know? Like the old ww2 flak cannons. I will play with it some more, but I am definitely looking for any advice or help for taking a 16 ton space hit for nothing except a little range....I really like the idea of the build, but I can't seem to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

firing them both together and holding the button is 4 per second.. 8 dps.. what's wrong with that? .. still lots of screen shake, too..

Chainfire should be a quicker at switching to the next weapon.. you would hope. There's nothing to wait for outside of cooldown.

Update: with 2, each in separate groups, you can get the every .25 second shots by holding one button and then off a split second delay holding the other. cmdrpoopypants: The reason I was hoping for the more constant fire is twofold? threefold? Lets see....The screen shake is constant then, no time to get your bearings. If you fire near the head, it keeps their screen totally blocked. The more constant rate of fire means usually no more than 1 shell will miss during a pattern, where as with paired shots if one misses, both miss.

Plus it just sounds cooler :).

Still hoping someone maybe has a macro or .ini file I can adjust to fix it, or will tell me to just go to a specific forum to post about it :). Also, commiserations are appreciated as well, so thanks Deathlike.

Thanks in advance! And thanks to those who have answered already!

Changing the game files to give you a different cycle time on chainfire would be against the terms of use. Don't expect an ini file or similar approach.

Macros sound a little more promising.

Sorry if I suggested something illegal, I have seen people posting about changing all sorts of things, so I thought it was ok.

Normally I hate AC-2 builds. However this sounds humorous enough to attempt. Definitely will do it when the Jagermech comes out on the 19th.

I tried something similair.
Got a RVN-2X with dual ac/2's and dual flamethrowers, kinda fun build. Not the best, but it screams for an agressive playstyle.

Switching the ac's to chainfire gives a slow and steady ROF, kinda like the old WW2 flak cannon shidageki mentioned.
But it's still damn hard to hit anything.
