It's in my pants.

How is this thread still going on? Vassago obviously gave the best possible answer with the second post. :D

The amount of friendly fire in pugs with artillery mechs would be incalculable. Libraries of forum rage would be written. We should do it!

Oh god, someone test fires their weapons at the start with a long tom equipped and your team is instantly 1 light down with 2 limbless mediums.

All Artillery Weapons besides the Thumper Artiller Cannon and Sniper Artillery Cannon requier critical slot splitting. Which we do not have yet.

I would love to be able to mount my own Artillery Weapons. But, we do not have any of them yet. Nore, the ability to mount most of them even if we did have access to them.

Maybe the Long Tom will be like arty in another game and the player will enter 'God mode' (birdseye) view of map and simply click on the enemy mech and pray the shell lands on the enemies head lol.

Wait a minute maybe they will take the easy route and just make it a lock-on weapon like a SSRM :) ;)

Arrow IV yes a few mechs did mount it including the catapult.

As for a long tom that thing was huge and no mech mounted it ever. It was mounted on 3 tracked/wheeled/rail vehicles and moved very very slowly. So the incoming artillery strikes I am sure Longtom based.

Plus it can shoot up to 30 maps away (15300 meters / about 9.5 miles) heck let me have a M198 Howitzer that baby can shoot ( 22,400 m standard; 30,000 m rocket-assisted / 13.9 miles; 18.6 miles rocket-assisted). Hehehe plus the Howitzer only weights 8 tons the Long Tom weighs 20 tons.

However, who would play as a mech role of which is to stand in one place, wait for TAG/NARC and then launch the missile/fire the cannon?

*coughs*...that was ironic,wasn´t it?
