I know this might be hard to be fixed, but it makes no sense my AMS is draining while i am standing below a bridge or while i am in a cave (Forest...). I hate the fact that i equip my mech with AMS which is useless once i need it. AMS should not fire when in a cave, below a bridge, behind a building..whatever, name it. Frozen city tunnel....AMS should be quite...

I believe the answer is that AMS triggers whenever it detects a missle within 200m, no matter the terrain/location, but will defer to those much wiser than me . . .

I agree with OP but it would be incredibly difficult to program properly so it still works when u need it. Terrain detection is always a PITA.

The main problem atm is that AMS is crap. Its just not good enough atm. And this is coming form som1 who uses 2 of them ;)...even with 2 a single catapult and get through enough missiles in a single volley to do significant dmg. Now multiply that by 3 or 4 with the number of LRM boats floating around atm and u can see the problem.. AMS is just out of its league atm and seriosly needs a buff.

It doesn't help that ECM completely outclasses it as well. Same weight, but 100% negation of lock-ons.

AMS is fine, the problem is just that so many stopped using it after ECM was introduced and LRM boats became a rarity.

At the very least AMS could use an on/off switch for those situations

AMS needs a LOS check

So explain to me how it can detect tiny missiles coming through solid rock when our mech to mech sensors cannot see giant 100 ton giants through the same material?

There should definitely be a LOS check, or at the very least an ability to toggle it on/off to preserve ammo.

I would equip AMS but with the modern 60+ LRM boats out there AMS is simply a joke. Even the twin-AMS models can't even hope to stop that firepower.
