Atlas D-DC with a stock 300 and, of course, Guardian ECM
1 - LRM20
2 - SRM6s
1 - Ultra AC5
2 - Med Lasers
And my baby...
Centurion C9-A with an XL275 and AMS
1-LRM15
2-SSRM2s
2-Med Lasers
1-Machine Gun (cuzz it sounds kewl)
Each allows me to keep the enemies head down with LRMs, and get in close and throw them a beating. Been able to increase my kill/death ratio significantly with these.
What's your favorite non-boat build?

3 Medlas
I know on paper it looks like a pretty dedicated Lurmmech, but in practice the speed and medium lasers are extremely effective. Essential to my playstyle, at least. I am comfortable calling it balanced.
I play it like a real skirmisher and it's a lot of fun. Doublefun because Hunchbacks in general and the 4J in particular are relatively weak builds.

LRMs+LPLs(180> >300)
AC2s+LPLs(180>)

twin gauss makes it sniper light now ppcs have been buffed but it'll still hold its own in most fire fights, has hella good range (1920 max!!) runs as cool as ice, and can core an atlas with 3 lucky alphas

I love the 2 LL arm on both these. Its great for legging light mechs that are trying to carrousel me. I find that I can't stand playing a mech that can't do anything at short range or long range. And I like having lots of weapons to fire.

I also have a CTF-2X with 2xERLL, 1xUAC/5, 2xSRM4, 300XL. I've had good success at all most ranges with it. Keep at range, engage with ERLLs, start taking some careful shots with the UAC/5 when you can get some good shots off, and then open up with SRMs and go full auto with the UAC when the enemy is ready to brawl. All the weapons are effective up close, so you're never really dead in the water.

Gauss Rifle (3 tons ammo)
2 SSRM2 (1 ton ammo)
2 Large Laser
280 STD engine
10+1 DHS
394/434 armour
FF + ES + DHS
It is pretty good at all ranges and boasts a very reasonable heat efficiency. It also retains reasonable speed and heat efficiency without resorting to an XL engine.

This can't be a balanced build! The LRM20 and the 2 SRM6 weigh 16 tons, the Ultra AC/5 just 9 tons.
I don't even know how your mech stands!
