If this already exists, someone please tell me how to use it.
One idea that would be a good addition to the mechlab would be mech profiles. Say you have a mech that is capable of specializing in a few different play styles, such as a brawler, lrm boat, etc. It would be nice if the mechlab would let you save multiple profiles for each mech so you don't have to spend a lot of time swapping and fine tuning if you decide to change play styles. I know, you could buy multiple mechs of the same variant, but that gets crowded and expensive.
So, say you have a trebbie that was configued for LRM support when you bought it, but you've carefully balanced it out as an brawler with more armor and shorter ranged weapons. If you feel like playing an LRM gamestyle, it would be nice to simply choose the old profile from that mech's bay and see it change instantly between the two.

It has been suggested before, and may or may not get added. Just be mindful that it is a pain in the arse to add it in, but also remember that upgrades will cost you money to change them... which is part of the problem.

They are already working on the availability to save builds. But the priority seems to be low.
I just hope it comes soon, can't be very difficult to implement.
