Apparently not.

Close enough. I feel sorry for anyone that buys one of these. It will be worse than the Phracts.

Lol, attempted to look up "blade effect"...

Your just saying because the angle shows those fins at a slightly angled perspective to the viewer that it hides the size of its surroundings?

Basically. It's "sort of like a "fisheye" effect, like if you take a picture of yourself from the ground at a 45 degree angle up, your legs looks about 2x as long.

Here's an example. I know it's not the best example but it may explain the look in the picture (if we are assuming the legs are really not THAT oversized.....I HOPE they aren't).:

Keep in mind who the competition is for the 65-ton ballistic carrier crown tho :)

There might just be a way to do something crazy like 2 PPC, 1 Gauss, and 2 SRM6 with this monstrosity.

It boggles the mind that people still seem to think that the Boomcats are "ok" by any stretch of the imagination. Ugh.

One of these days, when we're 20 19 'Mechs in and the Catapult is still the premier chassis, maybe we'll see some progress on that front.

Unfortunately because of the light armor characteristic of this mech, it'll end up being an AC/5 or Gauss boat every time.
Still, I plan to get one. The concept of the mech is fantastic.

I really want to like this 'mech, and I do like the look of it, but I can't seem to find a build in the original intent of the design that doesn't kinda... suck. horribly. Double Heatsinks and Endo improve it, of course, and an XL allows it to carry more ammo and armor, but I every build I come up with without bigish dual AC's would only really be competitive against stock 'mechs. Whatever the case it always seems to have heavy heat issues.

I can see why they're advertising it with the -A variant, of course, as that one has much more viability compared to the -S that I've been playing with. The -DD, while at first glance superior, just seems to be a -S with more upgrades at stock. I have no idea how they might differentiate these variants such that we see all three on the field, and suspect that after about a week the most common will be the -A with the -DD appearing rarely, and the -S almost not at all.

Same max armor as a Catapult. Definitely light on armor in stock form though.

hm.
This thing might ovetake the K2 then. Hardpoints in the arms, harder to hit cockpit.

I'm fully aware. By "OK" I mean "should be allowed to exist." It flies right in the face of the Catapult's entire design philosophy.

Well that's just like, your opinion man.

i'd say the big legs is a nod to the fire support and AA role that calls for a very stable platform especially if you are doing the wild torso twising that is needed for AA support.

I think it looks good, now if there is a way to work around the low armour it will be a solid mech i think.

And here I was, thinking that the next thing I buy will be the Orion... wow, this thing looks gorgeous. If only I didn't suck at ballistics...

Hmmm... don't know if I'll try the 2xAC20 or the quad UAC5 build first!!!
The 2xAC20 is actually very plausible, you should be able to take 6t ammo and still fit 2 ML with a 275xl.

He is by far not the only one who thinks this. The catapult is a second-line Mech and should not be a frontline-brawler.

Dual AC/20 + Dual SRM6 == ?

Dual AC/2 + Dual LRM 10 == ?

This could be dangerous...

Dual AC/20 + Dual SRM 6 won't fit the arms. You can try Dual AC/10 and Dual SRM6. Or Dual Gauss and SRM6... But the latter will definitely run into ammo and armour problems.

What I mean is: The concept art didn't really blow my mind. But the actual model is awesome. Kind of like a reverse Trebuchet situation.
