Same here. I would give up a few spare internal organs that I don't need for this to be an unseen/reseen mech thing as that means there is hope for the Warhammer & Marauder (my personal favorites).

Yup. Back up with a different screen scramble. It looks like it actually got MORE mixed up. Now we can see anything we want in the pixels!

The reason why they call Alternate Reality Games "ARG" is cause that's the same sound you make when you give up in frustration to figure out what's going on.

The only puzzle game I ever like was Portal. I'm not fond of having to use my brain. She's a V10, but she's only running on 1 cylinder (and even THAT is misfiring)

I feel there may be some significant to the watermark swipe in the top right corner of the new image. Almost looks like a horizontally flipped torso+arm within the watermark.

100 bucks on it being an extremely cinematic E3 showoff-trailer, possibly icluding some of the menus/online features, the conquering and all that stuff.
It's gonna play in that window once the time has passed.

Why?

No such trailer yet (the atlas trailer is pure cinematic, no gameplay).
Fits with the "message encrypting" stuff they got going.
Fits in the window.

My 2 cents.

They contain many of the same frames only flipped or rotated, as well as a few new ones. the lava smear on the top leftish of both, as well as the Orange gash 4 up from the bottom on the left of both. simple rotates. The is at least one part of a new mech in there as far as i can see. theres a hip actuator that doesn't belong to anything we have seen yet as far as i can tell.

I agree, they're overdue for a proper trailer. We had a great cinematic teaser, and some great gameplay vids, but it's time for an attention-grabbing trailer to awe the press and remind people MWO is out this summer.

In tradition with my unit finding interesting things, (and not necessarily reporting them) this time we'll share what we see. By image manipulation it appears to be the first series of shots in a larger total as already speculated. Certain points match up between images, and we have blended one version (using the first two available) for forward use.

Has anyone seen the Outbound Light btw? They, for whatever reason... are not responding to comm uplink.

Added: That watermark (or whatever it is) seems to be new to the second image and we are not sure why it has appeared in the second and is clearly not present in the first shot although the area shown would seem to indicate it should be there. The other possibility is that a repeating background image is being used and our assembly of this one, although it fits perfectly... is off in relation to these two first images.

There is difference. No Cicada foot on the second image where it was on first - under Catapult torso.

It might be there, but there is too much layer 2 damage to be sure. there are lots of little differences. the second pic contains several new tiles.

ITS A TIMBERWOLF ZOMG.

It's probably just a wiki, or some sort of web stuff with a high public appeal. I don't think it is a mech simply because it is an E3 announcement, and they wouldn't waste this opportunity just to announce a new mech, something that they have been doing for quite some time on their own here on mwomercs.com. If it is mech-related, it is going to be the unseen, simple as that.

Might also be a fixed release date ...a side project ... but whatever it is it has got to have public appeal so that people will talk about it on E3 and will want to come check the MWO stand.

OK,

Looking at:

"Artemis Log"

Artemis has 2 known meaning
1: The missile based fire control system in battletech.
Plenty of people have gone over this one, figuring it means the next mech is gonna have missiles. I don't see it. I think this is too big of a production for just a mech announcement. (However, that may be part of it) Therefore i'm not gonna touch 1, and instead move on to:

2: Artemis is the name of a god, specifically one who was considered a hunter.
That sounds like a good code name for some people you might send you out looking for something.

I know, Clans aren't in the game yet, and aren't supposed to show up until later this year at the earliest.
The thing is, Outbound Light found them in 3048. That gives a solid year for Comstar to get the message. It's a well known fact that Comstar had advance knowledge of the invasion, and i think this might be it.

Sounds like a great thing to hype up at E3, which just happens to be when the countdown ends......

I'm not saying we'll see clans at release, just the opposite in fact.

I'm saying we might see a trailer showing some Clan mechs, along with an announcement of a MW:O business plan which happens to include a Clan invasion about a year from now. Nowadays it's pretty common for game devs to begin working on the first major content push (I'd say expansion, but does a F2P game have expansions?) before the game is even released. Different parts of a development company work on a game to different degrees at various times. A surefire way to avoid having to lay anybody off, and keep everyone productive is to have more than one iron in the fire at all times.

I think we'll see some promo's for iron 2.

relevant. you'll have to watch it until you get to the part explaining how lost detail increases verifiability of false positives.

Oh, and if you think this has nothing to do with Artemis, that is fine, like I said, maybe I'm looking at this a little too literally

Considering the devs took valuable time to create the Artemis countdown page and especially the static Comstar terminal, you can bet you are not taking it too literal. In fact, might not be taking it literal enough, if that's possible! Thanks to past novels and background lore, Battletech fans love them some conspiracies. Here's a ferrofoil hat, sit down and have a cookie with the group.

My first personal guess is that it's the announcement is for the base chassis of the Chameleon.

Amazingly, the Chameleon was a unique mech waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Battletech game history. Look up Battletech: Crescent Hawk's Inception, from 1988. That was such a fun game back in the day (yes, I just gave away my age). It was definitely a beginner's rpg, but it was still very fun. The rest of the game featured basic light mechs, such as the locust, wasp, jenner, etc. The ONLY medium mech in the game was . . . the Chameleon. And there was only one of them you could get, the one you trained with. If you could escape the incoming Kurita invasion it was yours. Otherwise, it was destroyed. Man, does that game bring back memories on the old IBM XT clone. I never did get my lead miniature from the order slip they included with it though.

Wait, where was I? Anyhoo, I doubt it will be the Chameleon, but it is obscure enough that it might be. Its the perfect training mech after all.

If it is indeed a new mech my money is on the ARC-5R the FRR flavor of Archer.

According to Sarna.net, you've got a ton of Archers featuring Artemis, inclusing the 5R:

ARC-2Rb
ARC-4M
ARC-6S
ARC-7S
ARC-8M
ARC-9M
ARC-9W

The last one, the ARC-9W, is a Word of Blake variant that features WoB's Void Signature System. However, I think the very earliest it could have been fielded was 3070 (more likely post-70), so that would put it out of use for MWO. Still, 7 total Artemis variants! If we do get to see the Archer, Flying Debris would have a field day with that design.

As of other Unseen, I'll break out in tears of joy for a Flying Debris Battlemaster, Warhammer, Rifleman, Shadow Hawk, or Griffin.

HOWEVER.

The only mech that will make me scream like a little girl, cause me to throw money at the computer screen, and make big puppydog geek eyes is a Flying Debris Marauder. Nothing else comes close. Well, maybe a Battlemaster. Or a Crusader. Or a Longbow . . .
