In line with capturing mechs in single player MW4, would you support high steaks matches that allowed you to capture enemy mechs if you kill them?
... or are you gutless?

...
I take it you meant to put in "High Stakes"?

Or are you talking about cuts of beef?

Against! As it could be misused to circumvent the fact, that no trades between players are possible.

Please make sure to check "make votes public" on your future suggestion polls

I vote no, but I've always liked the idea of salvaging a chunk off a mech you destroyed and building that mech piece by piece. It would be an interesting time sink and a nice way for clan tech to proliferate onto inner sphere mechs.

Sure, why not? Go big or go home. As long as it's enforced and therefore non-exploitable count me in.

so mc mechs become useless as "good pals" deliberately die to give friends freebees or hero mechs become extinct altogether.

Well, if you're silly enough to enter your hero mech into a high stakes match I'd imagine you'd quickly find yourself to be a target, and it's unlikely your buddy will win your mech. Keep in mind you lose your mech if you die, so you'll probably end up having to buy another hero mech.

To me it adds an interesting flavor, as if you enter a weak build you're less likely to be a target but also unlikely to win another mech but if you enter a strong mech you might win another but are most likely going to become a target and lose your favorite. High stakes matches would be tough as players try to use mechs that are good enough to take down targets, but expendable enough to not be missed.

I voted Yes because I totally want to eat steaks after the fight.
On the OP though - NO.

The aforementioned competition might run afoul of gambling laws when it involved MC mechs.

I would love for there to be a sort of 1v1 competition.

I'm not sure what to vote on this poll. I like steak and chicken.

As a hypothetical situation, here is how I would see it being done:

1: 1v1 only. Period.

2: Anything could be bid, in game only, unless for rights to a bloodname, perhaps. Nothing out-of-game because that gets into big problems very fast.

3: Ingame biddable items means Mechs or equipment only. No Cbills, no MC, and probably no Hero Mechs either. Unique account bound cockpit items or customization also not biddable.

4: And this is the hardest part - Supervision by PGI or Volunteer Mods, people who right now are trusted to an extent by PGI, etc. Each party, both those dueling, and the supervisor would have to agree on time and bids, etc. This would require third-person spectating though. The PGI Rep would also be responsible for transfer of in-game items, if necessary.

Now, if we had all that? Yeah, totally do-able, I think. It wouldn't have to be for mechs, since people who want to earn bloodnames would have a system in place for it. Although in this case that would probably mean restricting access to bloodnames, which might be a whole other kettle of fish... ah well. <shrug>

Just my .02 CBills.

EDIT The other thought that occurs to me is if they set up one or more Reps to take challanges, maybe twice a month, for a set time announced ahead of time for people to sign up, to earn in game items otherwise un-aquirable.

The PGI Rep would gain nothing through victory of course, but, say, an example: this would allow IS players to EARN Clan Mechs or equipment that they might not otherwise be able to get... as long as they can take a Clan Mech they want down with the IS mech of their choice, that is.

This was kind of my thinking: You're an IS player (perhaps a merc) but you really really really want a Clanner mech. There's nothing that goes against canon saying that you can't acquire one through taking it down and capturing it, so why the hell not?

Although I was thinking more of a free-for-all brawl, or 4v4/8v8 than anything else, just to prevent anyone abusing the system by using 1v1 matches to trade. It's simply luck of the draw: If you want a Timberwolf, you have to be prepared to lose a few mechs before finding a match that has one in it, and THEN be the one to take it down.

I like the thought but as statred before it can be very exploited, there would need to be specific rules some how implimented not sure it's possile.

OP: You don't happen to be a aquarium hobbiest do ya? Seen that name on a different forum
