I have been seeing almost no gauss rifles lately, and when I do, I am able to go after them in my 2sl/2ml/2SRM4 jenner and win 99 percent of the time. They just feel a tiny bit too easy to blow off. Id say changin their HP from 3 to 5 or 7 would probably make them feel less like tissue paper but still mean taking them is a meaningful risk!

I got the feeling all the ballistic weapons are a bit weak. Gauss is unplayable, but my LBX is broken almost as fast. They absolutely killed ballistics for me at the moment. Too heavy, too weak, hard to aim.

I see them all the time. The dual gauss catapults have declined, I believe in favor of poptart snipers, but they are still being used elsewhere.

Also state rewind is only working for lasers. Once it is in effect with ballistics then you'll see a revival.

their ammo doesn't explode, so you're getting a net positive on using a Gauss. Its a long range weapon that builds up no heat, its gotta have some kind of drawback to balance against other ballistics!

That's one issue. IMHO gauss is a sniper weapon, not well-suited for brawling (some even suggest min range). Once you've closed in on them, you should have the advantage.

That's another issue, I'd agree with CapperDeluxe.

The ammo doesn't explode, but several people have commented to me (and I've noticed it myself) that recently when the gauss rifle itself is damaged, it does ALOT more damage then it did before... It seems like it started doing more crit damage after the last patch.

Last night one salvo of something like 10LRMs knocked down 2x Gauss and my Medium Laser in 1 shot.

Still had all my armor, and it was just yellow.

I was like: Wtf?
Then logged out for being completely useless without any weapon.

3Hp + exploding is overkill on top of being the heaviest weapon in the game. After the AC20 boost to 18Hps, I say boost the Gauss to 8 or 10 Hps and keep the exploding factor in.
Heck, I'd take even 6 Hps at this point, but having a disabled Gauss because there was a gust of wind is imo stupid.

there are still plenty of gauss around. i think many are being suplemented by ppcs which tend to mask the balistic shot. since the changes in ppc heat i do not think there are as many multi guass builds running around though.

I can't remember the last time I lost a gauss, either in arm or torso, I lose my ct way more often.

You couldn't have had all your armor, as there are no through armor crits.

I really prefer a one time explosion of 20+ damage(Protected by CASE), over stuffing explosive ammo all over my mech(that has much more blast damage).

Gauss has more range/no heat/non-explosive ammo/less slots than AC/20, and pays in weight. Gauss is built for ranged fights, take the 18 HP AC/20 for brawls.

Ive been critted thru armor in this game but it may be a bug.

Im just sayign as someone who hunts them, gauss rifles are WAY too easy for me to blow off of an enemy.

Gauss is still effective in brawling...no heat means I can shoot you with that AND 4 large laser continuously.

I wouldn't mind a 3-7 HP boost, not gonna lie. But it would be very wrong to restore it to the point it was at before it got nerfed.

Nah. Keep them fragile. They're incredibly powerful for what they are, and it's very easy to rack in the kills in my 2x Gauss Phract. They need to be used at range, they aren't a brawling weapon.

Just telling you what I saw, even if it possibly was a glitch.
Armor on both ST was still there, yellow (possibly orange). Which is why I wtf in the first place and was done for the night.
