The way ELO is implemented is pure stupid. (ain't that constructive input!)

It takes into account only W/L ratio and at same time it tries to get you equal opponents i.e. trying to get your W/L ratio to 50%.
So in a long run it tries to equalize everyones ELO. So people shouldn't wonder why they get into groups where some people run around like gods and others are just cannon fodder.

1728/808 win / loss total
63/53 with the new stats

I tend to 50/50 my pug and premade with about 25% of my premades in 8 mans.

Your ELO does shifts slightly against equally ranked players. So if you're are consistently better or worse then your rating you'll move to your proper ranking. If you aren't consistently winning or losing, you have the right rating and shouldn't be moved.

W/L ~ 1.0

Seems like I lose more when I'm in with a group, and win more when I PUG. Haven't quite figured that one out yet. In groups, I'm winning about 55% of my matches. When I PUG, I'm winning about 70% of my matches. Could be due to the time I play PUG's though...during US prime time, I generally play with a group, and then late at night, or during the day (USCST) I PUG.

My W/L % in lights or fast mediums is 71%, where as in slower mechs I lose a little bit more than I win. I knew I was better suited to the scout, skirmisher role...and the stats have more than confirmed it. Hit and fade tactics suit me better, than running a brawler.

109 wins to 62 losses since the new stats tracking.

Not that many who post here with more losses than wins, but thats the problem
with threads like this.
People will post if they can show positive figures if not and they still post someone will surely
say something along the lines of L2P or similar so...

Ahh well here goes W/L 924/1063 almost exclusive pugging.
I guess someone needs to loose some with all you other winning. :P

What kind of mechs do you run? What time do you end up playing the most of your matches? I've found that the times that you play, greatly impact W/L. AND K/D, but to a lesser extent.

See, I think this is a really interesting set of numbers when compared to my own and it seems to indicate that Elo is working on getting us there; that it's a work in progress. Before Elo, my win rate was about 60%, and since it's been implemented, it's settled out to almost exactly 50%. Squigles was obviously a class above me pre-Elo (with a win rate of about 74%) and he's still at the point where his Elo is increasing, ie. it hasn't settled out yet, but it's approaching the 50/50 point that it theoretically should when he's consistently facing competition close to his level (his current win rate is 66%). I'd be interested in your numbers in a month or two, Squigles!

Is it possible that the members of your group are at a higher Elo than you are as an individual? Given the way that it seems to be working, and granted, it's still a mystery for the most part, you might be stepping up significantly in competition when you group.

I posted losing numbers yesterday in the thread that I think prompted this thread. It's only a string of good games yesterday that got me to my barely positive number :P

I'd be interested in seeing your totals since the implementation of Elo, Tompaboy! It seems to be getting me in games with equal competition and I'm hovering around 50/50. Given that you were close to that pre-Elo, I'm wondering if you're at that point now.

Nope. Most of them are either on par with my W/L % or slightly worse. I had taken that into consideration as well. I do see a LOT more mismatches though when I group. One team will end up with 4 assaults, and the other doesn't get any. I dropped in a 5 vs 8 match a couple days ago. While we lost that match, it was a lot closer than I had anticipated it to be. Coming down to the last 2 mechs on each squad. I'm sure it was CTD's that caused it, but still...pretty unbalanced match that we somehow were able to make even at the end.

148 / 166 K/L since I returned a few weeks ago after almost a 3/4 year away, including cadet phase w/ trial mechs. Improved to 126:128 since I`ve owned my own mech (AS7-D, but now piloting an incomplete RS that feels like it`s got a moped engine in it).

Overall my experience at present feels balanced, averaging what feels like about a 1:1 win /loss and 2/3 Kill /Death ratio, which will improve as I do and as the new setup becomes more comfy. It feels "realistic" for what I expect from a single player PvP PUG in almost any game, in the sense of winning a few, then losing one or two, then winning a few more, then getting slammed with a heavy losing streak, then winning 5-6 in a row, then a loss before you get too cocky (or right after), rinse and repeat.

My ELO is probably pretty low, but these would be values I`d say for any reasonably talented beginner, as my advantage is primarily being an information sponge and using the knowledge in this forum and other sources to educate myself before running into battle like an Atlas with it`s head blown off (and thereby becoming exactly that :P )

200 games and 38.5% wins, K/D ratio somewhere around 0.1. Win ratio went up from somewhere like 17% after I started to play together with a friend of mine.
Yeah, I'm a newbie and my aiming sucks, and without knowing anything, the first thing I bought was a Spider 5V with TAG and AMS, being a team player and all. Unfortunately the game doesn't offer much for old people with bad reflexes and pretty much nonexistant aiming, yet. Taking an assault and killing half the opponent team seems to be much more rewarding. No matter how much I influence the game (not by dealing damage though), I always end up at the bottom with normally 0 points - obviously things like tagging or capping or generally being at the right spot at the right time is not included in that score.

I still have some fun flying around and surviving 5 greedy people hunting me for the last kill, instead of just capping that damn base.

After seeing many people comparing their supposedly long e-peen, I felt like stepping up for the lowbies. I know you guys like skill-based games, but don't forget that a higher skill requirement is not always good for the game. The most hardcore games in that aspect are pretty empty, and for a reason. Before I played MWO, I thought it's just a WoT with robots. I'm surprised myself at how much I like this game, so I don't want to see that happen here.

Oh... well in the name of science, I will report that my KDR before ELO was at 6.25, and win/loss was closer to 3. So I guess u can say it is having an effect, just slowly. But... I didnt play for 2 months and I may just be out of practice....

If that's the case, you never seeded your Elo score. You came in at 1300 and are in the process of climbing to the correct level.

I'd definitely recommend some heavier mechs if you want to avoid twitch-fighting. Those are much more about positioning and timing than reflexes. Maybe go for a stalker with a good mix of LRMs, SRMs and medium lasers?

About 60%, with a KDR of 2.53. Not the best, but I have been running Lights and I suck at them.

I guess u mean K/D ratio and others from stats.
I usually end up on the upper part dmg dealers when the match is ended.
Got Master Hunch-SP, Master phract-4X and Master stalker-5M that i use mostly + lvling 3 CTL on elite for the moment
so play most mechs, not lights though.
