SQUAWK: What's the deal with this? I see it in game and on the forums. Is there a meaning in BT beyond the literal definition?

I believe some goons like to squawk (Goons are folks who like the SA forums, I believe).

Perhaps we could get some in this thread to elucidate...

A current-age Goon battlecry. Sometimes followed by a flock of 3Ls; depends on who's flying their flag. Also could just be a parrot who thinks it's a Goon.

Usually goons. Sometimes people impersonating goons. And sometimes people just say it when they have like 3+ ravens on their team.

Some people squawk because they are goons, some because they are immitating goons, some squawk because they just want to be be annoying, and some squawk because "everyone is doing the bird!"

MWOs division of the goon squad (mostly known from EvE-online, but represented in many games) is known as the Word of Lowtax.

They chose to represent the bird people of the battletech novel Far Country. As part of that they chose "squawk" as their battlecry.

You know when you say a word so much that it sounds meaningless and funny and you laugh each time you say it, like cookie, or pillow? Well, "squawk" sounds stupid. lol. Even more when they type the "Q" 10 times it makes that harsh jarring sound of metal being dragged across tile.
