Building my 1st mech. I'm at 50 tons fully loaded. Smurfy's don't show a warning.

When I build in MWO, I see this:

Posted Image

I get Too Heavy for Torso and Legs, all other are showing limit reached.

I haven't tried to press Save as I wasn't sure it would work.

Is it because I'm at 50.000000001 or something?
If I put 51/64 for Center Torso I'm good, should I just do this?

Thanks

"Too Heavy" means you're at your weight limit and can't add any more. It doesn't mean you need to remove a point.

In smurfy's builder you'll notice that at 0.03 and 0.06 you have the same "full weight" listed. I've found that there is a rounding difference between the game and smurfy's builder, so when adding armor for my build I always stop when the "weight" shows max and ignore the "availalbe 0.03) if it's there.

I believe if it says "too heavy" it will not save because that "extra point" puts you over the weight.. I always just back off that last point I tried to put on, but then, mostly, I have it set right in smurfy's builder and ignore the tiny bit of weight smurfy said I still had for that 1 more point of armor.

Really, Cmdr? Cuz I when using Smurfy vs the MechLab, the numbers add up. Even with Ferro factored in.

That "Too Heavy" message is as Cache said: Any more would make you too heavy, but at the current amount, you are maxed.

hmmm.. it might be that it saves with "too heavy" listed, but I don't know for sure. I always figured once that showed up it meant "your mech is now too heavy to deploy", but I could be mistaken. I thought I confirmed it by setting armor to what smurfy showed, but still couldn't add something like the last heatsink until I dropped a point someplace, then looked at smurfy and noticed the 0.03 and 0.06 both showed max weight.. so I just presumed it was a rounding difference..

I suppose I could check again on some of my builds, see why I don't have that extra point on some builds.

But for all others I have the message Limit Reached, you're saying Too Heavy mean the same thing?

Yes, I think their "Too Heavy" notification is happening one click too soon. Just a small logical error in the program.

Thanks. I saved it no problem and was able to bring it in Testing Grounds.

I wonder if I should report this as a possible bug?

It happens. Feel free to report it, but it can be worked around.

No, too heavy means your mech would exceed its weight limit. Limit reached means that location can't support any more armor. Delete a heat sink or something that is a half-ton and you'll see that you can add the armor points. But won't be able to add the equipment back because you'll be at 49.52 tons or something like that.

Ni finally I was go to go like I said 2-3 posts above. I removed the engine and inserted the fastest green in the list. I get the Too Heavy on Torso and Legs but it works, I'm able to drive it.

Like Zyllos said, probably a rounding glitch or something...

Yeah thats how I read it.
It should say "Mech Weight Limit Reached" or something similar to be a little less confusing.

Confirming that this is correct.

The messages are clear as they are.

Too Heavy = You are not yet at the location's armor limit, but adding one more point would put you over the 'Mech weight limit. In this instance, you can add more armor if you lighten the 'Mech up by removing something.

Limit Reached = You still have weight to spare, but you have reached the maximum amount of armor that the location can carry. In this instance, you cannot add more armor to this location no matter what you do.

Try reporting it, including the known work around in the report so they know exactly what it is.
