Is there any serious reason to even have an ams if ecm is present?
Please fix this glaring imbalance.

how does ECM making nearly immune to locks not come up as more effective against lrm 5s than AMS?

You and your Team close to you, have AMS, say byby, LRMS.

Whilst not as effective, AMS also takes out streaks and standard srms.
In my opinion you are stupid not to take it. I don't own a mech that doesn't have AMS (even my Raven3L).
If you're still of the opinion that you are immune in the presence of ECM, my 2ERPPC, 2LRM15+artemis Atlas would like to invite you to a little party on Alpine.

except the stupid thing also shoots at missles flying harmlessly over you and into rocks >_>

most of the people who cry about LRMs are on teams without ECM and/or choose to not take cover when they get the obvious *Targeted*--*warning incoming missles*(other than the splash damage glitch LRMs are only really dangerous if you're standing still)

Yes, if you are not under an ECM bubble.
Sometimes there is only one ECM mech in my team and it is to far away, so it is important for me to have AMS on board.
Or if there is an enemy with ECM counter mode, so your own ECM will not work and AMS is a fine option.

Ok i know at least three reasons why it is a good idea even with ECM
1: The other side have TAG and know how to use it.
2: You get caught outside of the ECM bubble for some reason
3: You ECM carrier get taken out (or has it's ECM unit taken out)
So there are still some very compelling reasons to take AMS on anything slower then 80 Kph and by working together two or three mechs with AMS can provide a lot of protection for a travelling circus.

AMS is still very potent, especially if grouped onseveral mechs together.
Anyone saying anything other then that, never runs a LRM mech.
