Can anyone give suggestions as to where on my screen I should throw my monies? Hero mechs are appealing and purchasing 2 or 3 might be nice. The top hat urbanmech is gone and I wasn't able to purchase it in time. Are there any accesories or mech/hero mech purchases that I should have at the top of my list now?

Buy more mechbays!

Also, if you are part of a unit, try to figure out a paint scheme that you'll all roll with. Then, spend your MC to unlock the colors (and if you all want to use a specific pattern, unlock that too). You can spend even more if your team wants to do several different paint schemes based on circumstance (since indications are that you'll have at least some idea of what map you'll be on eventually, at least by the time CW comes around).

I have plenty of mechbays, but more is always a good idea.

Colors do seem to be the way to go... any other suggestions such as what mechs i should be painting/buying

Ilya-Muromets is a niche hero mech because it can equip 3x UAC/5 and 3x Medium Lasers. No other mech can currently achieve this.

The X-5 is a niche hero mech because of its' speed and firepower capability with 4x Medium Lasers and 2x SRM 4 + Artemis.

The Flame is a niche hero mech because of its' speed and ability to house an AC/20 in its' Left Torso. It is the only DRG that can utilize an AC/20.

The Yen-Lo-Wang is a niche hero mech because it can house an AC/20 in its' right arm, which AFAIK, no other mech can do.

There isn't really any mechs to buy with MC. If you like the dragon but don't like using the ballistic arm, you could get a flame I guess.

I'd stick to mechbays and colors like the above suggestions. Maybe GXP if needed for good modules but even that I would wait for another double GXP conversion day.

If you are wanting a hero mech you could just get one of your favorite chassis to have more variety of that mech. Like I would probably get a hero highlander if it were to ever come out.

I've been using mine primarily on Mech Bays (can never have enough it seems), XP-GXP conversions and paint/camo schemes. I'm waiting for the sale times again on the last two, and perhaps if the hero mechs like the Ilya or X-5 go on sale I'll slap some down, otherwise I generally keep my expenditures on the low side.

Hmm I don't think any of the fluff is worth it. This is what you should get:

1 - The deluxe lobby, Its very nice to have so well worth spending MC on. Its almost like how games used to be in the old days with this sweet thing.

2 - The Map pack, More maps. You cannot beat that value. Go nuts with your MC.
3 - The Game mode pack. This is worth the MC just for team deathmatch and defend/destroy.

Step 1: Buy three mechbays.
Step 2: Save CBills for Jagermech.
Step 3: Buy, fit, paint Jagermechs.
Step 4: Profit?

Ilya and one of the Dragons (Flame i think) are the two best Hero mechs.

Wang if you want to be cool.

Aside from that, colours and wait for some sort of hanging light type thing to come back for your cockpit- Flashing christmas lights are the best!

Same here. I might splurge on some colors/camo though. I have been toying with setting up a multi-cam kind of look, although I wish there was a camo option with a fourth color for the full effect.

Mechbays, paint, and wait until they make the rest of it worth buying. Do not, under any circumstances, buy hero mechs until they make the prices on them remotely sane. A hero assault costs as much as an entire, full, two month old game.

The Raven 4X can do it, but it takes some work to get enough ammo on it to be usable.
