I've noticed when playing my brawling mediums that quite often I'm just about the only brawler on the team. Sniping with gauss rifles and PPCs seems to be much more popular. As a lone brawler it makes it very difficult to decide when to close with the enemy. Do it too soon and you will incur the wrath of the entire enemy team and be taken out in seconds. The only other option is to stand behind cover and hope something comes to you before the match ends.

I guess it's just the plight of the lone wolf pugger. Either adapt your build to be more flexible and able to engage at multiple ranges or stand there all match hiding behind your LRM spewing missile boat ECM atlas. Anyone else experienced this?

If the whole team is sniping be sneaky, use cover and flank at point blank range if you can. Most non-brawling mechs cant survive a surprise attack from behind. By the time the enemy can respond, you've already rear cored someone and working on your second surprised target. Just dont attempt to flank over a large open area and make sure you deviate far enough so they do not see you.

It's due to one main issue: For whatever reason, PGI kept some parts of CBT rulesets accurately but not others. For example Gauss, PPC etc's high alpha damage potential was kept, but the relationship between heat and weapons fire was drastically altered. In BT few Mechs had the heat capacity to fire all of their weapons like that in one turn for those huge alpha strikes; they had to select which of their weapons to use, which promoted having varying weapon layouts for varying ranges and situations. MWO however has massively high heat threshold allowing people to fit and alpha strike high numbers of weapons ie the 6 PPC Stalkers.
