People will complain, they always do.
But anybody who knows the gaming industry as a whole and understands even basic marketing connot deny that them NOT showing up at E3 this year would be a huge error. Assuming "full release" is slated for this year, which we all believe.
The E3 it THE trade show that all the serious gamers worldwide look at very closely, because it is the single largest event the gaming community has.
Bottom line: if you`re not at E3 presenting your game, neither you nor the game exist as far as most of the world is concerned. Not going to E3 and staying home to fix bugs and tweak is IMO the best way bar none to make sure those of us that spent money did it in vain. Of course I also want the bugs fixed, but to what end if the game dies in 6 months instead of blowing up into a money printing machine like it potentially could, just because the Devs were afraid of the community damning them for spending money on plane tickets and a hotel suite? Any rational person understands that this is a major part of business in today`s world.
Now if they fly the whole team in first class and put them all up at the Hilton for the duration of the event and 2 weeks extra, we have a valid discussion whether or not spending the money is a good idea or not.
Remember, we have a general roadmap of approximately the next 90 days from about 2 seeks ago, with no clear information of what will come beyond that. And lo and behold, E3 happens, well, just under 90 days from now. I`m not convinced that this is pure circumstance and not part of a greater plan in which E3 plays a pivotal role.
And Cairbre`s Idea sounds awesome, let`s just wait and see what we get. E3 is in June, so quite a bit can happen between then and now, all the way up to and including CW + clans, which I would regardas "full release" and the end ob Beta. In which case not appearing a the E3 would be harakiri for the game.
I personally think E3 is timed pretty well to be a turning point from a playable engine into an actual game.
