No-one actually gives a **** about the specific TT DPS values because they don't work in live play. It's used to demonstrate that the people who claim that MGs are nonfunctional as Ant-Mech weapons in BTech because "I'm a superfan and have done BTech since before it was design and have the original limited edition Optimus Prime for it." are talking utter ********* and apparently have large, core, gaps in their knowledge about their 'fandom' that can only be explained by idiocy, senility or weapons grade ********.

Minus all the rage, this is the core problem. All of these "TT rules" people don't seem to grasp the fact that you are most certainly not playing at your kitchen table with your old high school buddies. You are playing a live action, first person mech sim where you are actually in control of where you shoot and what part of the enemy mech you damage. There are no dice here.

Fantastic straw-man, I'm impressed.

If you care to peruse the posts - nah, that'd be too hard, wouldn't it - you'll see that most of the people clamouring for a MG buff are extremely aware that MWO is not BT.

The MG is a good weapon in BT.

The MG is a bad weapon in MWO. No, strike that, the MG is a worthless weapon in MWO.

We don't want worthless weapons in our "live action, first person mech sim", we want all weapons available to us to be good weapons.

The TT rules only come into the discussion either to
* point out how differently the MG has been treated compared to every other weapon
* once again dispel the inane "MGs were only anti-infantry in BT" argument from MG-scarred people

No. The core problem is the Machine Gun is as effective as throwing a clown shoe from your cockpit at the other mech, and about as lulztastic. Worst weapon in the game, although the flamer is a close second.

Except with the machine gun you have a pretty big cone of bullet bukkake, and no opportunity to focus fire except at extreme close range.

Load an AC2 or (U)AC5. Still painful, but you can actually contribute in a gimptastic way.

Hey, I never played the tabletop game and I'm no TT purist. You know what I want?

A MG that is actually effective in this game.

I believe the others think the same way.

Flamer got buffed

Old: 0.6 heat to you, 0.2 heat to your target
New: 1.2 heat to you, 1.4 heat to your target

They went from doing 33% to the target of the heat they generated on you
To 117%

Pretty big buff

One of the many awesome things about Smurfy's site...

Fixed that for you, and good job spotting the Flamer change!

Another mg thread that needs to be closed and it's post count and link added to the MG dicussion thread

This is a post to assist the mods in understanding the breadth of the problem I will be copy pasting this into older machine gun threads that did not recieve mod or dev attention so the feed back can be linked from the new thread.

Anyone who thinks MGs were only anti infantry weapons has never played in a TT solaris 7 match with an all MG toting mech. However in solaris range of MGs was drastically longer than normal Btech.

Honestly I think "if" we ever get through armor crits (A chance to disable internal components without chewing up armor) the MG will shine because of all the chances it would have to find a C h i n k in the armor (Thats a banned word? it means gap or weakness in armor). Until then it either needs buffed or removed.
