Well with the Jager out tomorrow and the missile Splash issue gone in early April, it may in fact be a good time for those heavy Streak and SRM users, not the OP specifically, to take a break from them now and get an early glimpse of how the other half live. :)

GL OP. Best to install your Ballistic proof underwear come tomorrow too. LOL :)

I have only one 'Mech that carries Steaks. And on a CFT-2X they are more like the 'Mech equivalent of a hold out pistol.

One question: Do you drop with a group or primarily as a solo PUG?

I primarily drop in a 2-4 man group on comms. Many times, when no other House Steiner groups have open spots, I will drop solo. Yes, the game is more difficult when I drop solo in a group that is not on comms with me, and even more so when I do not use a "cheese" build.

Hey OP, try NOT using an atlas. Try one of the awesomes, or a dragon.

I have been wanting to challenge myself too, but I want it in an extreme way. I was going to buy the Cicada with 4 ballitics, pack on the MGs with max ammo, strip off all armor, put in the largest engine and GO TO TOWN! Oh yeah.

Today, I have decided to challenge myself and play MWO without my usual crutches. I will sell my beloved Atlas D-DC and go back to my founder's D. I will no longer use an ECM on any of my mechs, I will not use Streak SRMs and I will not use more than two SRM launchers on any of my mechs that are capable of carrying SRMS. I gave up on lights some time ago, so that will not be an issue.

Yes, I will probably be destroyed more often than not and there will be many games where I will not break 100 damage. I will be endlessly taunted (but that is no big deal, since I taunt and get taunted regularly :)). So, even though I will not get as many kills and my K/D ratio will tank, I will know that every kill I earn will either be due to luck, or pure skill.

Anyone else who already challenges themselves in this way, or wants to try are welcome to comment. Anyone who does not care, or has any other opinion on this is welcome to comment as well. I will see many of you in-game, as enemies and allies, so play well!

Apparently I've been doing this for a long time >.>

And since new stats, out of 218 games, two have not been in Jenners.

I have never purchased a raven on principle, I bought a DDC just to kill ravens with. I have played Cicadas and Spiders though as they are the least OP of the ECM family. Primarily though I play Stalker(LRM, LL, PPC).

If you want something fun pick up a Treb 7M, lots of options in loadouts and has JJ.

Don't even worry about that man. All my mechs don't use ECM, streaks, or more than 2 SRM6's; and I do very well.

I looovvvvveeeeee my Jenner. And as you can see I own 2, my founders and another that I could paint. The K has a lot more xp in it now because I mastered it for the upcoming consumables, and I might start maining with that depending on how useful they are.

I've been using nothing but a Hunchback 4SP since I had the money to buy a mech. 6 Medium Lasers, 2 SRMs. I've had games where I get slaughtered, and games where I rack up 3 kills and 4 assists.

I can honestly say that its been a mix of skill and luck whenever I do something like that. It feels really good to use the Street Fighter "Dan" of Battlemechs (honestly the 4SP is ****...) and still whoop someones ***...

Sitting on around 4million CBills too. Not spending any until I can buy my dream clan mech, the Hellbringer. :)

I said I wanted to challenge myself, not commit suicide! Actually, I mastered the Awesome ages ago and got tired of overheating and having paper thing armor. I also tried the dragon and I agree that the dragon is probably the most challenging of all the mechs to do well in. I do own a Centurion D with no missles though.

I use SRM in general very rarely and have never touched streaks. I don't even own a DDC. In fact for the longest time my only Atlas was my ever faithful Founders D. Only in one of the recent sales, did I manage to reclaim my RS. And I've yet to touch ECM with a pole. Saw how annoying it was initially and swore it off.

Seeing someone challenging themselves like this is always heartening. Plus it's always refreshing to see where you stand when you cast away your crutches.

If you want to have fun with a Stalker you could try this:

3F

(Should work on the others as well though)

2 ERPPCs
1 LL
1 LRM15 (2 tons ammo)
2 SRM4s (2 tons ammo)
Full armor everywhere but legs, you can strip 8 points from each leg.
20 DHS

It is more effective than you might think

(i run it with 3 SRM4s or 3 SSRM2s, but I adjusted it per your specifications)

 You missed the point with lightyears to spare.

Made myself an Awesome 8Q with three ERPPCs and a Small Laser, no AMS even. Just for you:

Of course all the basic and elite pilot skills were unlocked from back when I was mastering my 9M, but it is still the least "cheesy" mech I own. I played five games in it tonight and got five kills with four deaths, not too bad since I have not piloted an Awesome in a while. The Awesome is much better now than it used to be since, PPCs shoot faster and do not generate as much heat, plus the new quirks make it more maneuverable. I will stick with this mech a while, until I get killed so much I decide to play something else.
