How does the matchmaker handle weight class distributions in PUG drops these days? Because since Phase 3 went live I've noticed an odd number of weight classes several times, and I've just finished a game where the opposing team had an all-light 4 man (3 Raven's and a Mando) and my team only had 1 light to counter. Needless to say the heavies were picked apart by the flock one at a time.
How does the matchmaker work now that weight class matching has changed?
Thanks,
Val.

I had a game yesterday against 6 lights (including a few 3L of course), while we had only a Spider and a Commando I believe. We got totally *****.
With that big differences, there doesn't seem to be a hard limit. Probably a soft one that is adjusted to the amount of players available for MM.

It doesn't. It's based on Elo score only. They said that weight balance might come in later. For now there is absolutely no weight matching.

I don't believe this is current since they took down the ELO system then put it back up(after modification).

Thanks for that, good to know they're still working on it. It does seem quite unbalanced at the moment, not always against my team, it seems like there are not very many even matches right now. We either walk over the other team or are walked over.

Yes this is no longer valid as I have had several matches that matched under the 2 minute period that were no where near balanced in terms of weight. Last I heard it wasn't a factor after they had to tweak the system. I should note that more then 75% of the matched players were from the game prior so it wasn't that I dropped into another timeout.
At the very least weight matching if its supposed to be working, isn't.

Tonnage doesn't guarantee a win.
This is an essential realization. With Dropship mode on the horizon, along with Lobbies and the ability to choose a mech once you see which Map you are dropping on, you will understand why the Devs are moving away from this.

Tonnage may not guarantee a win but it does make it much easier for a team to dominate. While it is more than possible to win while out weighed, in a pug it is heavily in the team with more assaults/heavies favour.
