Well that has to be a mistake, clan mechs by lore are literally 100% not allowed to field ECM units. it breaks Zelbreigan.

I suppose it's possible the variant exists as a FU to the IS for when they eventually declare the IS unworthy of clan war rules.

but otherwise ECM is a big nono

From Sarna:

"Clan Systems
In the Clans, the Guardian ECM suite was used as the basis for an improved ECM Suite. This system can be found in every Clan'stouman. They weigh a single ton, and can be mounted on nearly anything."

They certainly have their own 'Clantech' version of the module and, while I don't know how accurate the information is this page: http://battletech.rp...ame=ECM%20Suite seems to indicate it's stock on quite a lot of Clan mechs.

It doesn't actually seem to break the 'rules' (they're more like guidelines, really) of Zelbringen as listed on Sarna. Infact, ECM (theoretically) counters a lot of the technology prohibited by Zelbringen (TAG, C3) so I imagine they'd be happy to use it since it 'enforces' their preferred fighting conditions. Even if they're fighting forces against whom Zelbringen is waived, they're unlikely to modify their mechs to carry C3 or TAG when they're unused to utilizing them compared with the enemy, when turning off the enemy's is an available option.

Edit: Edited for crazycode outbreak containment.

Huh, maybe im thinking of the null sig equipment?

I recall something to do with mwo implementation of the guardian ecm being not cool for clans.

From Sarna: "While the Clans retained the peak of the Terran Hegemony's military technology, the tenets of Clan honor find such stealth systems dishonorable and ceased research and production of the Null Signature System."

So yeah, apparently it's Null Sig they don't like. I'd assumed, based on these forums, that it was it's ability, when placed on a 3L, to replace all the armour with new plating made of condensed Chuck Norris.

Edit: Why does the coding on this forum suck so much ***?

PGI HIRE THIS MAN!

Of course this is the hero variant of the TRL, the other variants are totally balanced with it however they have no ecm and can only support a 100 size engine.

Yea but thats easily fixable it's not like a tonne of ammo doesn't give 100 missiles to fire.

just jam in more ammo yank a bit of tonnage in armour.

it's not like most mechs would even be able to shoot tanks with how badly their torsos aim up and down.

Any air or tanks would slaughter the current crop of mechs we fight with.

Except maybe the A1 as all its weapons can track up and down really well.

Dirty clanners will be driven like cattle before the godlike Urbanmech IIB. Duct tape manufacturers have been contacted and are stepping up production to meet anticipated demand.

Given that SRMs are outclassed by clan ER med lasers, I'd have to say any mech with 45 jump jets, LRMs and two ECMs.
