I'm guessing here, but I don't think they mean max theoretical speed, I think they mean that since they aren't forced to use a standard engine, they can jam the biggest XL they can fit into that bad boy, and still have weight left over for their two AC/20s.

I could be wrong, though.

Im not thinking the mech is going to have 15 crit slots each torso. So XL wont be feasible with AC20's.

I guess this one lost me a little. How can the Jaegermech be all that much faster? It comes with the same stock engine as a K-2 and should max out at the same size which is a 315. Maybe I am missing something? It looks to me that it will be the same speed as any of the catapults..

Regards

The AC/20 uses 10 slots (the biggest weapon in the game). On the K-2 they are mounted in the side torso (leaving only 2 slots available), preventing you from using an XL engine and AC/20 at the same time. The Jagermech mounts the AC/20s in the arms, so there is still room for an XL engine. Because the AC/20s weigh 28 tons without the ammo it's just not practical to use big standard engines with AC/20s (you have to strip all the armor and components), so you end up with a slower then average Catapult when using them. By contract the Jagermech use AC/20s without giving up the XL engine, providing the edge in speed.

Still looking forward to UI 2.0, especially Mechlab improvements.

As for the Jagermech, it might be a one-off option for dual AC-20s that works better than a K2, but other than that it sounds like it will be of limited value until we can filter maps by Size. If we can choose to only join Large maps, I could see it having more value as a long-range sniper with quad AC-2s or similar long-distance loadouts.

i'll be using ultra/5s which work great at moderate range and up close.

I'm really looking forward to the new map, the Jagermech and, what you didn't mention, the support for analogue steering for those who have pedals/joystick.

imho the jaggermech won't touch a catapult with those big side torsos it won't hold an XL engine well at all.

Depends on how much ammo, armor, and speed have to be sacrificed to run four of those.

Not only that, you even get a couple of side torso wings that will help you die even faster with an XL. I hereby rename the XL Jagermech the Suicide Angel.

I'll be using two because four is just silly and you cant' handle the weigh :) My K2 with 2 ultras and 4 mlas works fine.

The stock loadouts have 4 ballistic hardpoints, that's true. BUT
  • the JM6-DD and JM6-S have the exact same hardpoint allocation so most players expect them to get additional hardpoints
  • I heard Russ Bullock say that 6 AC2s might be a possibility last week during a Twitch.TV event

Oh, I see.

2 UAC5s almost never works, currently, due to the jamming bug where they often jam immediately after the first shot. You need three in chainfire mode in order to have a reasonable chance of them not constantly jamming.
