Here are some suggestions for an improved Mechlab UI:
  • Ability to toggle a grid display of owned mech portraits instead of just one row of six at the bottom that the user has to scroll through.
    • This could be an option the user can choose to open or close, as well as set as their default view or not, so that it can be unobstrusive to view the large rendering of the currently-selected mech and so people who still want the current row view can still have that option.
  • Ability to "Filter" or "Sort" this grid by:
    • MechName (sorts them alphabetically by the custom name)
    • Class (sorts them Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault)
    • Manual (allows user to drag and drop their mechs within the grid area)
  • Relocate "Sell" button off of the mech portraits
  • Add button to "Rename" mech where current Sell button is located on top of portrait
  • Mech portraits should reflect the actual camo/colors used on each mech
  • Both Renaming and "Select which 4 mechs are active and ready for battle" could be simplified to a one-click-per-mech process by utilizing on-hover state of mouse to pop up the two overlaid buttons.
    • Since Sell has been moved to a safer location where it cannot be accidentally triggered, the risk is removed and on-hover can be used to display the Rename and Select buttons.
Here's a super-quick mock of the general idea of the grid. The only aspect this image is intended to convey is the rough idea of a grid display and the Sort dropdown selector. The rest of the suggestions above are not visible in this mock.

Thanks. I really hope whatever "UI 2.0" is, includes these type of changes, at a minimum.

This isn't intended to be comprehensive. These are simply a few ideas we hope they consider. Just vote on whether you like any of these ideas or not. Thanks :)

The Mechlab is such an easy fix. MW Tactics looks horrible, but look at their mechlab https://mwtactics.co...ech-bay-part-2/ it is actually useful and user friendly.

while I agree that it would be "nice to have", i think other work the devs have to do is more important and urgent. I hope they don't take manpower to work on something which is purely cosmetics.
